Do Nvidia & ATI need sep forum?

Its a small number from both sides who for some reason seem to feel the need to stick it to anyone who has a different opinion to themselves.

Personally I think we need a 3 strikes rule for badgering or uncalled for comments.

The gpu forum would be a very quiet place if that were to happen lol

I think a three strikes rule would be good and having two seperate forums would make it easier to see the irrational fanboys because if your always slating ati why would you be in a forum for their user's and vice versa for nvidia can't hurt to give it a go and see how things are.

I think two sections for ATI and nVidia would just segregate people more and encourage more fanboyism. I like it how it is, benefits the neutral.

What would be grounds for a strike ? I cant see how a three strike rule would be conducive to healthy forum debate. We have over zealous moderation at the best of times.

The one thing that comes across to me about this forum, and has done for many years, is its packed to the gills with passionate PC enthusiasts.

I would rather have a forum full of heated debate than full of people scared of upsetting someone.

The bickering gets in the way, there's no doubt about it. Most of it is petty and pointless. But that said, it takes very little time to skim through threads for the useful posts, and I'd prefer to keep everything in one forum.

As for moderating, overall I think the mods do a good job here. It's not realistic to ban people for liking the hardware they've bought, or for trying to back up their opinions. But maybe those few who consistently provoke and continue these arguments could be given a talking to.

Personal insults and attacks that have nothing to do with what is up for discussion there are a few members on these forums that are getting in the habit of getting personal when there is no need too. Yes it's the internet but are we seriously saying that we should allow some who don't seem capable of debating without being insulting to be tolerated rather then suppressed so a debate can be had properly.

Yes it would segregate and it might make for more fanboyism but if you got sections for ati and nvidia if you got nothing to really say about either of their products you shouldn't be in that section not like now they all mixed up together.
2 separate sections would benefit the neutral as well as i think there would be less fighting as if you got nothing good to say you can just keep out that section.

I think oc should enforce a 3 strikes and then ban rather than 2 forums because it will just cause more of this confict between the 2 fanboys imho.
I know you do get the odd differance of opinion but sometimes it does get to much to see a hole thread taken up by ppl ranting over stupid things

You could split it into 3 sections: graphics cards, graphics cards latest news and graphics card WW3.

Everyone can then post in the relevent section and everyone will be happy (but probably not):D

The whole point of having a single forum is to discuss anything related to graphics card. If nVidia or ATi have a new card coming out I'd rather find out from one place than visiting two, especially as Intel is soon to join the fray. But anyone baiting others should obviously be dealt with. Criticism of a manufacturer is one thing but outright lies, attacks or blatant propaganda should not be tolerated.

tomshardware forum has this, however you can see it under the parent section through

This being the internet which makes people ... braver, any heated discussion soon turns into insults when the one side have his 'opinion' cut to shreds and feels he have to save face by acting like a cretin. Unfortunately that's how it is and it's exactly that 'zealous moderation' which saves it from deteriorating to that level. There is a reason this forum is successful, that might be part of it.

Add the dopey fanboys, one dimensional fools and blatant trolls, and I'd say moderation and the ban hammer is exactly what is needed, heavy handed too.

well in this fourm unlike others, you can have speck your own option as long as it don't insult, however sometimes you do get muppets here which normally end up banned cos they did a too big of a hole and won't walk away and get riped to nothing. that is the only time you can do mild insult as its FACT which this fourm works on

if you treid to do half the things you could on this fourm, on say ogame fourms you will be banhammered pretty much instantly
