Do PAC codes expire with your contract?

Hi all. I'm coming up to my last month of my TalkMobile contract and wish to cancel it. I spoke to cusomer service yesterday who told me I have to phone back exactly(!) 30 days before the contact ends to cancel. At this point I can also request a PAC code to port my number.

Is it correct that PAC codes last for 30 days before expiry? Therefore, I would have to jump straight on a new contract on the day my current one expires if I want to use the PAC.

My contract runs out at the end of September. If I was to wait and request a PAC code mid-Spetember will the PAC code still be valid until mid-October even if my contact has ended? Or will it be invalidated at the same time as the contract?

I'm going to ask when I phone them back, but just wanted to know if anyone had a similar experience.

A PAC number is used to transfer your mobile phone number from one network to another, doing this will also cancel your contract with the original network. Because of this the normal rules for cancelling apply, so 30 days notice and to not be in contract.

The above poster is correct, they will be valid for 30 days after being given to you but most transfers occur within 2-3 days now.
