I've always be fascinated with horror movies and horror games since I was little. I just love the feeling of being scared. Not much movies these days are scary and not much games are either.

I don't really get scared playing games anymore, more freaked out than scared. Last game that kinda got to me was condemned 1 on the PC. I've never quite been scared playing a game since AVP2 playing as a marine back in the day.

Have you ever been scared playing a game?

Depends on the what you mean by scared.

Scared as in struggle to play the game with complete fear that your hands tremble when you step round that corner as you just damm well know there is going to be something round there to jump and maw your face off ?

or

Scared as in your playing fine and dandy something jumps at you from the ceiling and makes you liturally jump in you seat and shout OH **** ! only to continue playing as normal ?

edit or a mix of both :D

I use to. Resident Evil 2 use to scare serious crap out of me when I was a little boy, but as you grow older you lose that sense of realism and fear. Generally no game makes me scared now but I think thats because of the way the majority are protrayed, through violence and gore. Something I would say Im almost use to now.

I know its possible for me to still get scared in real life situations, so developers should start on other psychological thrillers such as animal cruelty and burglary. jk

I remember playing Resident evil one about 10 year ago when I was 8 on the ps1. It was all good - killed a zombie, nothing really that scary.

Then I went back into the hall , and I lost Chris and Wesker - im sure ill find them later...

Ill go through this nice blue door - looks sexy.

Oooooo a curtain , ill go through it....a dead zombie , cool... GAWWWWW - ITS AWIVE!!!

But im cool, ill just kill it and go through this other door. ooo a long corridoor with no one insight - fantastico. *CRASH* ZOMBIE DOGS, AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, MY GAAAAAAAAAAAAWD!.

I then had to change my boxers for the 1st time playing games.

Ever since that bit on the ps1 I was on pure edge all the way through and didnt actually complete resident evil 1 until the remake on the gamecube! :D

Yes, they scare me. I probably have the largest underpants replacement outgoings for anyone over the age of 2. But i love them; i'm still plucking up the courage to buy blood curse.

True, once you've seen videos from the war on gore sites, that pretty much shows the darkest side of the human mind. Only movies that scare me or Japanese movies like The Ring or audition. The exorcist still scares me though, I remember I could never watch that movie when I was little. To this day, I've only saw it twice.

Ever since watching that unknown russian solider video where that dude gets his head cut off with a 6inch blade and visiting rotton with mates etc nothing really seems scary in terms of violence and gore. A new sense of horror needs to be introduced.

That was the first gore video I saw back in 2001 when I just got an internet connection. I was tricked into downloading it by some jerk on msn.

lol

Ravenholme in HL2 scares the hell out of me :(

Its usually noises that bother me though, things jumping out at me will swiftly be shot in the face with a shotgun or something similar :p

I love a game with eerie settings, I don't get "scared" by them. Games can make you jump with loud noises and things jumping up at the screen on you, but that doesn't make a game scary in my opinion.

T.

Silent Hill and Condemned get to me. Violence and gore doesn't bother me in the slightest but those two had some great psychological horror in them. I can only really play Condemned in small doses :o But I love it.
Not bothered by most horror films but games get to me :o

yea they scare me, but they also pull me in if they are actually decent games. games are much worse than films imo because of the level of immersion

edit- by worse i mean scary :p

The only games that make me jump is Resident Evil, mainly the early ones (1, 2, Nemesis etc). i still find it hard to pick 4 up when it goes dark :D. but really i have never found a scary game since then, i thought Fear was going to be scary but it did'nt frighten me at all, neither did Doom 3. Really looking forward to Dead Space though.
