Do scary games scare you?

F.E.A.R. gave me a few frights when I played it through for the first time. Through the night, on my own, lights out, with ear muff headphones up pretty loud... The Condemned games were pretty scary as well, but playing AVP2 through as a Marine maybe two months ago... Nothing can even compare.

The bit with the zombies might have spoiled drake's fortune (imo), but they were some scary stuff. Mind you've never been into scary games anyway, if I get too immersed in them I stop enjoying myself because I get so jumpy lol.

Bioshock made me jump once or twice, but I don't think it was ever properly scary. Those huodini splicers were creepy though (the ones who could go invisible and then suddenly appear again).

And like yungstar said, Ravenholm in HL2. I thought nova rospekt was pretty spooky as well, but that was more because of the setting rather than the monsters/bad guys that werelurking in it.

AvP and Condemned are the only two that Ive ever played and actually felt sacred. Predator Tag in AvP with the lights off and headphones on a local network was awesome.

Yup, I get terrified. I generally can't play a scary game or watch a scary movie unless there is someone else in the room. I'm a gigantic chicken! :D

Games don't really scare me anymore, unfortunately! I used to like playing scary games.

Games can really only make me jump nowadays.

Resident evil 1 on PS1 scared the hell outta me when I was 12.

Really I think what used to makes games scarier/heighten the tension was when they were hard and had sparse savepoints, ala resident evil. There's a trend to make games easier nowadays, most games today autosave or the like so often and lack any real death penalty that it kinda kills off a lot of the tension for me.

Doom 3 scared me when one of the moster jumped out of a stair case, i screamed so loud, every one was laughing at me at uni still have not lived it down lol

Ravenholm in Half-Life 2 made me jump a few times, it was a great part of the game though.

The first game to scare me though was Resident Evil 1, the now infamous dogs through the window scene was quite scary but not as scary as the voice acting! :p

Played the first silent hill dem at a mates house with the lights on and PS1 whirring away. Faceless children scared the bejesus out of us. Im sure that demo got banned after a while.

Alien vs pred obviously with that motion tracker going :D

Even a few years ago, me a 23 yr old now was scraed stiff by fear. It started with *** lights going wrong and those ash type figures appearing everywhere. Then after killing plenty of baddies those invisible electric climbing soldier things made me fly back off my chair when I first got attacked. *Note* do not plug in hi-fi to pc and turn off the lights :D:D:D

I agree and i also think you've pointed something out. The amount a game scares you is very much in relation to the situation you play the games in. Whenever i play a terrifying game i wait till night time, turn the volume up and turn the lights off. It adds so much more, it terrifies me, but i love it.

Been caught by a few "stingers" in some games - most memorable is the licker jumping through the one-way mirror in Resident Evil 2.

Only games that have me genuinely scared or uneasy are the AVP games as Marine, and the Project Zero games.
