Just out of interest do SSD's read data sequentially or simultaneously, i.e. multiple blocks of flash memory at the same time, carrying out different commands?
For example a hard disk has a head that has to move into position. As such it can only do one thing at a time and obviously technoligies like NCQ help it to queue up those commands and movements in a way that makes the best use of this limitation.
But SSD's are full of memory chips so presumably they can read/write from multiple chips at the same time yeah? I was just thinking how that would speed up things like doing an AV scan at the same time as watching a HD film, or playing a game etc?
