I haven't downloaded anything for ages but I've just gone over 1gb of downloads today and my speed has been cut from 4Mb to 1Mb.. is that what they do when you hit 1gb of data in a day?

They said this to me over the phone, however they said the UBR I was conected to wasn't in the planned upgrade and my speed has been woeful for ages on 20Mb, I can't even sustain a connection on Xbox live for long. If I try and host a game (you'd think 20Mb was more than enough to do this) everyone gets kicked off with me, no way I'm paying 37 quid a month for that.

Other than this I've been happy with the Service, TV and phone. When I phoned up today to cancel they said how about downgrading to 4Mb? Yes, of course that will help  They then said "ooh we are rolling out 50Mb later this year which will be on a seperate part of the network so won't suffer from the same problems you are having. BULL!

So, I'm now looking for a new Broadband provider...

The last part is true the 50mb service will be using a different system to the 2/10/20 tears and most of the heavy downloaders may jump over to the 50meg.

Yes, that part may be true as I've read but I try to make the point that the service in my is terrible and I don't see why I should pay MORE to get a stable connection. 50Mb will not be a free upgrade.

I agree with you in everyway we only went on vm in november last year and its been faultless ever since, 2.3mbs all the time apart from the 4-9pm time when it drops to around 1.6m dl, but if we had problems like you and many other users were having i would be doing the same as you, rumours are the 50m will be £50 a month which is mega pricey as we only paying £22 a month now for 20 meg as we got it on a new customer deal.

lol I'm lucky to get 100kb a sec in the evening, quite often much less. The only time I have ever seen anywhere near 2MB a sec is about 7am in the morning. What happens during the day doesn't bother me its the evening and like I've said the crap connection on Xbox Live. If they offered to cut my bill to compensate I may have wanted to stay but they wouldn't even do that.

Problem is if they cut the price or downgrade the service they tie you in to another 12 month contract, which is a pain if you subsequently decide the service really is too pants and want to cancel.
