so when the system installed the latest drivers for nVidia i selected express installation

The express installation installs the HD audio drivers, but I dont need that as i use a sound card.

It also installed 3D vision driver, but i do not have a 3D monitor.

so shall I un-install the 3d and hd drivers?

Looking below i saw this on a website:

3D Vision Controller Driver - You only need to install this driver if your screen supports 3D, if you have proper glasses and if you access 3D contents, e.g. movies or games, on your PC. If you do not, do not install this.
3D Vision Driver - See above.
HD Audio Driver -You only need that if you want to transmit audio signals via your video cards HDMI connector. If you don't, you do not need to install this driver either.

it only came to mind because i get a 3d error when i start some of my games, doesn't cause a issue as i can still play the game but every time i start a game or run for example my sound blaster control panel i get a 3d error message.

I never had this before, I also updated my drivers via express and everything installs fine apart from the 3d vision driver as i get a failed installation message.

So i have now un-installed the 3d driver and the hd audio driver, which only leaves the graphics driver, physicX and geforce experience.

that that make sense?

It does indeed make sense.

Although moving forward, what I would recommend is uninstalling everything, doing a custom install with the bits you want, so its fresh.

Then when it comes to driver update time, do a clean installation and once again pick the parts you want.

This means all old drivers are uninstalled before "upgrading" the current to the new.

I swear by fresh ibstalls on gfx drivers as the one time I didn't, it caused me all sorts of issues with sli.

But to confirm, what you said makes sense.

The 3D driver is for a monitor with Nvidia 3D capability and 3D glasses. I always do a custom install and untick everything but phsyics and driver.

Installing the 3DVision driver will do nothing except cost you a tiny bit of HDD space. If you never enable 3DVision, it will never be used. Having installed it is not the cause of your issues.

I select custom (clean install) and then tick just the gpu driver and the physx driver as I don't want or need any of the other stuff and it works fine.
