Do white people look the same?

Personally I don't have any problem recognising the differences in any race. I can't ever remember thinking all oriental people look the same or all black people etc. That said I grew up moving around the world a lot as i grew up and lived in quite diverse poplulations. I also lived in Hong Kong as a child which may explain why I am confused as to why people can't tell different oriental races apart let alone people within that race. A Japanese person looks nothing like a Chinese person.

All black people have black hair. Wes Brown has died hair or he has some sort of hair colour defect like Albinism for hair.

I've really taken offense to that rolleyes for some reason and it's making me want to kick you in the face.

obviously the phrase "all x look the same" sounds a lot worse than the intended meaning is here.

as said it's about knowing the features to look for to distinguish a person from another of the same race, or even to regionalise people of similar race chinese/japanese etc.

strangely although i would most of the time struggle to differentiate between chinese and japanese, i find it relatively easy to say kiwi/oz before hearing an accent, and even the most established caucasian families there dont have that much history

Your only saying that as your anonymous on an internet forum. In real life, i think you would choose your words more wisely ;)

Edit: If your threatening me, then ill give you the benefit of the doubt, as your probably a young teen on the internet.

I certainly wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to have a basis in evolution. It's in a specie's interest to reject and destroy a competing species/race, and preventing the ability to identify individual members of a new species seems to be an ideal way of prejudicing someone against a new species.
Good theory. I wonder if a black country with a white minority thinks all white people look the same? If they do, then maybe you're on to something... although we do have variation as far as eye colour & hair goes but (correct me if I'm wrong) black people just have varying degrees of brown eyes/dark hair, but no real 'different' colours.

I first started thinking about this when I was presented with my cousin as a new born baby. I hate babies, I utterly loathe them and want nothing to do with them.
You're not the only one :p

But no, I recognise people of different races easily. I've made a fair few mates of different races and I'd never get them muddled up with someone just 'cos they're of the same race :) Like said, it's just getting used to what to look for to distinguish between people!

I mainly have problems telling black and oriental peoples apart. Whites and non-oriental asians have more diversity imho. That said, it depends on how people dress, the type of society and culture they live in. I think in poorer communities there's a higher chance people will look the same.

No pal, I can give you my address if you like. I'm guessing the '15' part of your name didn't come from nowhere all those 2 years ago. I don't threaten people on the internet - let's pretend your "counter-threat" wasn't a threat too - I just said that I'd want to kick you in the face. Let's be honest, I probably wouldn't kick anyone in the face but if one of my mates had said something ridiculous like that in such a pretentious way when they were wrong then I'd be kicking them too.

You also seem to have completely neglected the fact that you were wrong with regard to black people's hair.

If you wish to continue the discussion my email address is in my trust.

So someone with a different opinion from yourself gets their head kicked in? I don't talk to ignorant people, so their is no need for you to point me to your trust for your email address.

No, it shouldn't because black, white and other coloured people are all part of the human species. It is just the pigmentation of their skin that is different really, and they have little reason to have a competetive instinct against each other. Think cats and dogs with different colour fur, same thing, pigmentation, they do not feel the need to seperate from each other due to their colouring.

My thought as to why this happens for you could be that you feel that you do not need to remember their faces as much, because you do not feel that you would need to interact with them in the future.

Very funny, but pretty much admitting defeat as well.

Black people have black hair. Lets just put that issue to bed.

Why do you think you have defeated me? You just proved that you ARE pretentious, that you think you are higher than everyone.

Also, we should take whatever you say as fact

I'd say they are quite varied compared to other races. Some of the other races are quite distinct to me, I can tell the difference between African(mostly somalian around here) and Afro-Cribbean, Afghans usually have similiar features, so do Turks. I'm trying to get my differntation of Chinese, Japanese and Korean in features and names. I just like finding out about the people of different countries etc.
