Do you believe in Black Magic?

No, I don't believe in black magic. No rational mind would.

I have a very rational and logical mind but have the ability to believe in things that my rational and logical mind cannot entertain alone.

Hell as part of my beliefs I can at least acknowledge the presence of some kind of magic. I do not, however, belive that one human can cast a spell on another and for it to have any effect.

You didn't, I thought I'd just clarify :)

There were a few people on page one arguing that they were different. In fact Ulfhedjinn said they were 'completely different' and to look at Google or Wiki for evidence of this.
haha...would that be punt as to my belief in a god?

Would that be what now?

I am aware of the word punt, but certainly not in any context that allows that sentence to make sense

I always remember an old quote by Black Sabbath :
(Spoke in a Brummie accent)
"The only time we've been into Black Magic is in a box of chocolates".

My sentiments exactly.

If that is their belief then I don't see how?

Some of the earlier replies

No, but I do believe in stupidity, ignorance, and misplaced faith.

Yes, the Tooth Fairy warned me about them.

Honestly, I can't see how any rational human being in a modern Western environment could possibly believe in black magic. So my answer is a resounding "No".

and of course the chocolates and magic Johnson replies

So you have heard about this kinda thing??

What is it all about? how is it common? is it a spell / curse?

My uncle is doing ok for himself - But he's not mega rich or anything.

Its supposed to be a curse matey. Its been done to someone my family knew years ago. About 20 years ago(or maybe longer, I was only about 5 or 6 then) there was this lower caste indian dude who owned a HUGE clothes production factory in Brum, he got rich and generally did very well. Pretty nice chap, very shrewd in business but very nice guy and his family were quite nice too from what Im told.

It just so happened that a lot of high caste men and women used to work for him and they happened to be very jealous of him and his family.

One day his wife goes to the toilet in the factory and finds 2 massive carrier bags full of meat-fat and other stuff.

Fast track 2 years ahead, the same guy has lost all business credibility and all his factories are shutdown and hes declared bankrupt. He dies another year later.

My supersticious grandparents still put it down to blackmagic to this day. As I was only young at the time I will never know what truly happened to him. He probably just mixed with the wrong people and they messed him up or he whatever, Ill never know.

But the meat in the bag thing is used quite a lot by the asian community. What it signifies, I dont know.

As someone else has almost said in one of their posts, the idea of "black magic" as in "evil magic" is not possible because "evil" doesn't exist.

Good and Evil are concepts that loosely describe Social vs Antisocial, Sociopathic vs Empathic, etc etc. One mans' terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. "Black magic" could just be Good magic used for "nefarious" purposes.

Is there such a thing as an Evil Toaster?
An Evil Laser?
An Evil Giraffe? (I will eat all the leaves off the trees, so that other giraffes may not and die muhahha, points for where that is from)
An evil nuclear weapon?

Maybe you should just ask if magic itself exists...

basically put, were u making fun of me, for believing in a god?

Not really. I was despairing that yet another person exists that is going to pass it on to their kids. Whilever this goes on we as a race will never be rid of it.

An Evil Giraffe? (I will eat all the leaves off the trees, so that other giraffes may not and die muhahha, points for where that is from)
Evil pilot fish. 'I know your dad!' :D

I think I misunderstood your initial post.

I wasn't defending mick taking of anyone's beliefs, but meant that it may well be in someone's religion to believe in magic - Rastafarians, FWIU.

Ahh I think I also misinterpreted your inital post

"Yes, some posters like to take the mick out of religion."

& took it too literally I'm guessing you ment

"Yes, some posters like to take the mick out of others beliefs"

Sorry:o
