Do you choose the fancy sound option?

I find it's a very individual thing. I wouldn't be without Bose/HK/Burmester. To me the difference is huge. But my wife and other people I've talked to about it don't notice any difference from a bog standard system.

I listen to Radio 5 Live in the car so, no :p

My company car has got the "Seat Sound" upgrade (it was pre reg, I didn't spec it) and I noticed the difference the sub makes... every time I have to remove it to get to the locking wheel nut key.

I've only ever had used cars, but my most recent one just happened to have a sound upgrade and after having it for 7 years I'd be wary of getting a stock one in the future, especially if I have a commute. Good sound does make a big difference to the vehicle enjoyment IMO.

Then again, if I were to to get a new car, I would hope 10 years in cheap audio advancements would equate to half decent audio anyway. Gotta test it I suppose depending on if you like listening to the news, podcasts, or blasting spotify

We have HK in the X5 and I have BW in the M5. The BW blows the HK stuff away.. But the HK is still pretty good... But after hearing the BW loud, I'd spec that everytime.

However I did used to have a £10k top end system that would do nearly 155db in a previous life, So i've been spoilt in the past

B&O are in the same realm as Bose/Harmon Kardon.. they are more lifestyle, where as Bowers and Wilkins / Naim etc are very much about Audio quality and 'Hi-Fi'..

I have B&O in the Mustang, it sounds 'OK' but nothing special.. where as I've been so impressed with some B&W and Naim offerings in various cars..

In most cases I've had the upgraded audio because it comes lumped in the options packs or overall spec.. If it was an individual option, I'd like to hear it first, because as someone above mentions, it can be hit or miss if they overall sound is actually any good.

Not all B&O is equal. I believe the B&O stuff Ford use is B&O Play - that’s their more consumer friendly stuff.

The B&O systems in F1X BMWs is/was stellar. In my Audi, it was poor.

Yeah, a good point, the BMW (and Aston Martin) B&O setups are lovely, but don’t quite rival the BMW B&W setups… and the Bentley Naim install is equally another step up.

We didn't bother at Harmon Kardon was a £1400 option and the cost/benefit on the lease price increase didn't seem worth it at all. Standard Tiguan audio seems fine and mainly listen to the radio or Spotify over CarPlay.
