Do you complain about items/service that is subpar/ small issues?

I ordered from Amazon uk a Garmin 1000 edge GPS Thursday morning for £354 and by Thursday evening it dropped to £308

After a quick 5 minute phone call I got this email...;)

Did that with a monitor that I had bought for my daughters build. Bought it for £320, two days later dropped to £270, onto amazon chat asking to send back for a refund, straight away refund of £50.

Another 2 days later it dropped another £35, again onto amazon and got the difference refunded. Strange thing is, within 5 days it was back up to the same price I had paid for it!

Have to say excellent service from them..

I've had to complain a couple of times. Once, bought a brand new game from a retailer on the high street. Got it back to find out the steam code was already activated. Straight back to game and got a replacement copy and a gift voucher.

I occasionally complained when I had a prime account about delivery times. Yodel taking a week to deliver something that was next day delivery.

Amazon Prime complaints are the best. Doesn't matter what it is... you'll get a free month. Could count the number of times I've actually complained on one hand, though. Which is good in the grand scheme of things.

I moan to friends and family rather than the retailers, then once it is out of my system I let it go.

If directed my moaning at the people who caused me to moan I'd probably get some sort of compensation.

Very rarely unless it's been something really bad like Green Flag leaving me out in sub zero temperatures for over 4 hours just after Christmas while they sent their agents to low priority jobs such as jump starting people at their homes.

I complain occasionally. I don't want anything more than the product I ordered - I'm not at all interested in compensation unless it has cost me something, like a product arrived damaged and I've had to pay to send it back. I don't want anyone to lose out, if possible, so as long as I get what I ordered then I'm fairly happy.

I do occasionally start to write complaints, but I never finish them and close the browser window...and then they're gone. Cba writing another!

Recently tried Bella Italia for first time.

Was massively disappointed with both the service and quantity of food given that the bill came to nearly £150, which was wrong as they added an extra starter we didn't have.

Took to twitter/FB after they emailed for a survey and was polite and to the point in my disappointment in their brand.

Have been offered a £25 voucher, to use with them!!!

Better than nothing though.

I'm quite happy to complain if something is less than I would expect I will say something.

Recent ones include

Crackly speaker a couple of times at the cinema got a refund and vouchers for next visit. I only mentioned it to them so they could fix it before it got worse.

Went for a meal and the chips had seasoning on them. it was obviously bottom of the tray. As my plate had about half a pint glass worth of salty seasoning. Got the meals for free and only paid for drinks.

Chinese Chicken balls were overcooked/hardly any chicken they rang me back to say they have changed supplier sent some free with the next takeaway and they were delightful

I Don't understand why people don't mention when things are Subpar, how do you expect them to improve on things, everyone/where makes mistakes its if/how they improve on them that makes them a good retailer in my eyes

If its a big firm, they likely don't care.

Damn, I bought items before that have dropped in price literally the next day and I haven't bothered to do that!
So what do you usually do? just contact them on chat and ask them for a refund of the difference? Do they ever say no?

I often do if I really feel the service has been poor, don't see why I should pay for a service and not get what I paid for. Complained to KFC the other week regarding a drive thru order and got a free meal voucher. Problem is we (the UK) are one of the worst for putting up with sub par service.

In customer service driven industries (especially food and drink), any company that cares a jot about its customers will give their staff discretion to pass on small amounts of compensation.

Usually though you'll need to go through to managerial level to get anything significant. Relative of mine works in pub/restaurant trade, and if you don't accept compensation on the day it really needs to go up to area manager level to get a proper solution. But they have complete discretion so can do whatever they like, and will take into account the severity of the issue. Mind you, no-one's going to be making a living out of it.

All the time. Well, not complain so much, but more email something along the lines of:

"Dear whoever. A recent product/service was not 100% because of XYZ. I would appreciate any comments you have on these issues".

This usually results in a replacement item/vouchers being sent. If the companies don't know that the items/service is sub-par then how the hell are they meant to improve them?

I once complained to cadbury about finding a normal sized button in one of their 'giant' button packs.

I was sent a voucher for another free pack :D
