Do you cool your HDD

Not in my main rig, all the drives are solid state (4x 64GB Samsungs in Raid0.)

In my server i have a 80mm slow / silent fan blowing over them into the case.

I have 7x 3.5in HDDs in two coolermaster 4 in 3 bays. Each bay is cooled by a noctua P12 fan.

I'm pretty sure this level of cooling is not required, but my hard drives are certainly cool and quiet.

I have 10 HDDs in my Antec p182. Bottom four and middle two are cooled by 120mm case fans, pretty much silent. Top three, mounted in the optical drive bays, I sellotaped another 120mm case fan to, again pretty much silent. And I mounted a 2.5" drive in the floppy drive bay, no fan. That one now runs at 37°C, ambient temp 29°C  hotter than any other drive bar my OS drive, which is a WD (from a MyBook) and runs a lot hotter than my F1s and 7200.11s.

Case HD bay is just behind the front intake 120mm fan. But have to say impressed by how cool the 500GB Samsung F1's run ~26°C

Hdd sits behind the front intake fans so I guess I do although not intentionally and I don't think it helps the performance of the drive any.

I do have a temperature sensor on my wd green hdd which stays at a constant 81-82F

Half and half for me, one set are attached to a rad with a fan blowing though and the others are buried in my case with no cooling, temp difference of around 3 degrees.

Antec 900 has 2 fans blowing onto my hdd's. My Samsung is cooler than my WD & the sammy is doing more work.

Can't hurt to keep them cool.

I guess I'm the exception. The only hard drive in my computer is a 500gb WD green which is firmly screwed to the chassis. It's at 30 degrees at present, with no airflow whatsoever as it has a floppy drive on one side and a dvd drive the other. The hope was that the case would act as a heatsink, and it appears to be doing so

OS drive is an ssd

On my main rig in sig, the 2 drives are sitting in front of a 120mm 2000 rpm fan run of a controller. Samsung runs 2-3c lower than the wd. On my second system my 2 raid0 raptors are kept in vantec vortex hdd cooling enclosures, which also helps to quieten them a bit.
