Do you do it

I do tend to grin at other drivers of cool 80s cars, and occasionally get a smile back.

Since I drive a Toyota Avensis, one of the most boring cars in the world and possibly only driven by other sales reps I tend not to wave at anybody. Unless I know them. But them I'm also a miserable sod when driving.

I'm sick of waving to fellow Stobart drivers - theres too damn many of us! :D

I've started to give different gestures instead of a wave, it gets interesting reactions! :D

tell me about it. I booked a travelogde at middlewich after my oulton park weekend and im now sick of Eddies. I recon on average 1 lorry every 2 minutes came out of that depot all night long :(

Yeah in the MR2 if another one drives past we often pop up the headlights to acknowledge how effin' cool we both are. I also give a nod to other bikers when I'm out on the crotch rocket.

I do it when on the bike because everyone else seems to do it but never in the car. Other Z4 Coupe drivers generally will have a look but never wave.

Once when stuck in traffic in Winchester on a hot day another almost identical car pulled alongside me. I jokingly said to him "Nice car, you have great taste".

I can understand the whole knowing wave thing for bikers and people who drive rare or classic cars but for everyday modern machinery I don't get it.

A couple of 205 GTi drivers have given me the knowing nod or hand off the steering wheel so I've always obliged. Tried doing the same to two successive 205 drivers and then both blanked me :o I'll not be doing it again.

Bikers do it a lot as its some form of "brotherhood"

my mate discovered this when he got his bike

other bikers just started randomly chatting to him while waiting at the lights. Having spent all his driving life behind the wheel of a car, being anonymous

it came as quite a shock !
