I do  , Don't know why, I have loads and loads of games but hardly any of them are completed yet, I sometimes play them for years going over the same levels and just generally mess about in them really, sometimes I think I just load them up to escape in a little virtual environment temporarily but don’t really ever have any real intention of finishing the game, take gta for example, I purchased vice city but to this day I still have'nt hardly even done anything in the game, yet I still play it on a regular occasion, I just love driving my car around the city with my radio on :o , do you think for some people like myself buying a game isn’t about the challenge of completing the game but rather to escape into a new graphical world with new surroundings, It's probably just me tbh :D .

Definitely not just you ;) I'm exactly the same! I love games where you can escape into another environment, and I've loads of games uncompleted because I just mess around rather than complete them... It's a shame second life isn't so tacky, I'd probably be an addict if it looked realistic :p

Ive bought many games and have never actually completed them...

Supreme Commander
Command & Conquer 3
Stalker
Quake 4
Resurrection of Evil

...to name just a few.

Yeah im the same, i lose interest too quickly. I often just like to turn em on for about 20 mins.

I prefer linear games that just drag me along the rails :)

Want to catch me on msn so we can arrange a game of supcom?

The trick is to buy less games. That way you spend more time concentrating on them as there isn't as much else you could be playing. The best thing about this is you can then sell/trade the completed game in for something else rather than is just sitting on your shelf.

I do that a lot, but recently I've decided to complete all my games (at least the ones I enjoy) to get the best value out of them. In the last few months I completed CoD2, Farcry, FEAR, CoH and Half Life 2 which beforehand I barely got half way through before I changed to a new game.

I keep buying new games and not even installing them half the time :(

These are some of the ones i have bought and not even installed yet

Need for speed carbon
Prey
soldier of fortune 2
battlefield two
fear addon pack
X3
Supreme commander
silent hunter 3
IL2 forgotten battles
test drive unlimited (xbox360)
Deux EX 2
Hidden & dangerous 2
King Kong

I take it one step further, I buy games and don't even play them... For instance I have Civ III sat on my desk, I bought it about 2 years ago and have never played it, I could go through my box of games and reel of a list lol

I guess I don't finish games anymore because there's no real story in a lot of games to keep you going these days, or you don't feel a part of it.

Also because back when I was younger and had more time to play games, unlike now going to work.

But I think about this every weekend, I still want to finish Homeworld 2, I started it and get quite far then something gets in the way.
Then I forget all the hotkeys - controls and *blah!*

I have done about half of company of heroes, might finish it off this weekend :D

See I don't understand that. Why keep buying more games if you've got ones you haven't played yet? You've got like £200+ worth of software sitting there, make use of it!

That said, I've kinda done the same thing. Got a Wii back in February along with Zelda, and I still haven't opened the box yet

Moving back on topic, not so much these days. Around late 2003 I realised that when not playing QW online, I was wasting too much time on IRC/forums and not actually playing much in the way of SP games. And when I did, it was like, install, play for 20mins, get frustrated because I'm not familiar with how things are done (generic FPS aside) and then stop playing it. So I decided to make a concerted effort to complete more games.

Since then I've completed around 60 titles (maybe not like, 100% complete, but played through to the end of the storyline). Been slacking a bit over the last year though as moving in with my fiancee has impacted on my gaming time a bit. Need to give myself a kick up the arse and try and polish off C&C3 and Dark Crusade as I put quite a lot of time into them.

Yer really depends on the game. COD1 UO & 2 i have completed becuase they are really satisfing to complete.

Occasionally I'm actually tempted to disable my internet connection so I actually get some gaming done :)

Regarding CoD, it's the only PC game I can remember completing in less than a day - probably around 8h gaming time.

Yes, should be good. I would come on now but my MSN isn't working. Hasn't been for the past few hours... same with you dude?

Fine here, just make a new account or something and mail me, don't want to clutter the thread.

It would be much quicker to list the games I have finished - about 10% of them. I stop playing games for a simple reason: I don't like them. The reasons can vary, but boredom is the most common. Into that category fall (wait for it): Half Life, Deus Ex, Quake 4, Doom3, Black and White, Gothic 2 and 3, NWN 1 and 2, STALKER (probably - I may go back to that), etc - you get the idea.
