Do you ever bet against your own team?

I rarely bet on us to lose but recently I've been betting on Dundee to draw a lot which has been working out pretty well. I don't have an issue with betting on us to lose - I might as well make money from the misery of defeat.
 
I bet on Arsenal to draw quite a bit if I think the odds are favourable, for example last time I bet on Arsenal it was to draw with Blackburn.
 
Do it all the time. The first time was Wales v Ireland for the Grandslam in 2005.

Just before I set off for Cardiff on the morning of the match I had the horrible thought of being stuck in Cardiff having lost with about 100,000 other fans all pi**ed up after the match having missed narrowly our first Grandslam in 27 (I think) years.

I couldn't bear the thought so put £100 on Ireland to win. The thought of £300 notes in the back burner was comforting.

After winning, we all had such a good night I couldn't have cared less about £100 that honestly I wouldn't miss.

I now pick the games according to how I'd feel if we lost and how much money would be required to soften the disappointment. Despite Wales doing ok and the Ospreys having a good record over the past 6years I'm still up about £300 having bet a couple of grand on games.
 
Its tempting. I know if i stick money on UTD, then they will lose. infact whoever i put money on, i guarantee can lose. SO i might throw a tenner on chelsea just to stop them...
 
I had never tried to even think about it but thanks to Roy Hodgson. The time he was in charge of Liverpool i was the richest guy. I think i would have died of Heart attack but again a remembering how much i had won every after a miserable game a smile would be on my face.

But now days i can't.
 
I know people who always bet against Scotland in any international match. That way if they win your happy, if you lose, you were expecting it anyway and you get paid.
 
I see nothing wrong with it. The only issue is betting with your head and not your heart.

Last time I did it was betting on the Everton game against Birmingham. Based on our past form against Brum I correctly predicted a 1-1 draw and made myself a few quid :)
