Do you ever find yourself wasting time on tech you'll never use?

I've just wasted the last 30 mins looking at Microphones and what's popular for live streaming even though i have no intention of doing so.

*perplexed* :)

Yes look at things like high end cameras, suppose same as I do with supercars,, no intention of buying, just find most things interesting

I do with cars all the time, it doesn’t even need to be super cars, I watch reviews of mini hatchbacks, estates, SUV, electric, off road, all sorts. I also watches all kinds of tech reviews, from graphic cards, high end PC builds, overclocking rigs when I have a Mac. I also watch demos of guitars, from new ones to vintage Gibsons and Fenders from the 50's costing enough to buy a house.

When Phate was looking for his mic set up for streaming I also watched a lot of mic reviews, home studio set ups, pre-amp reviews, even mini synths. It got to a point where I was like “I want to get all that” but I didn’t need it or even intended to buy any of it for myself in the first place.

I just like learning I guess, every topic has an ocean of information and it’s no harm knowing a little of it.

sometimes, but it's just from wistful wishing - I like looking at telescopes, eg, cos astronomical stuff just fascinates me and i'd love to get into astrophotography. haven't the time, talent, money or geographical location to make the purchase worthwhile, but I still like looking.

I find myself getting obsessed with new bits of technology and reading everything about it and then never end up purchasing what I was reading about.

Doesn't even need to be technology I just find I have an obsessive/fanatical approach to things sometimes.

I look at houses on rightmove I can't afford, and have been known to use the Ferrari car configuration on numerous occassions :p

It's the adult equivalent of an Argos catalogue

This, i probably know all the locations of all the houses by the coast in Cornwall over 1.5million :)

I regularly enjoy watching Aquaholic (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCitH5iJ0s-YwbuAg3MIo4Aw).

Considering I wouldn't have a cat in hells chance of even affording the cheapest boats he shows, I still watch them as if I was choosing which to buy.

The amount of times I've had a rational internal discussion weighing up the pros and cons of something so irrational that I couldn't even afford within 10 lifetimes is sky high.

"I'm not sure if I want the helicopter pad or the space for 3 hyper cars on my super yacht. I mean how many times will I really be flying around Monaco compared to driving along the coast"

Do any of you find these 2 statements true?

- For gadgets that you never plan to own, you spend hours reading their instruction manuals.
- Yet you buy a different gadget and you open/play with it straight away without reading the manual!

Same here

Same here, got to the point where I get quite picky and cross many off my wish list, detached, no shared borders, sea edge but not at risk of errosion, not gridlocked by tourists, even had a drve down restronguet point to have a stalk

You know your game very well :) I discounted a lovely house based on the fact i could see 4 static caravans in the distance from a window.

Err, yes. Guilty as charged. I get obsessed with small details and really research things I have no use for.
