Do You Game On Hard, Medium or Easy?

A few years ago I asked the same question to my mate who answered "I always game on hard". Why I aksed? "I don't like playing a game through more than once If I can help it" was his response. Kind of makes sense really.

I am in the same camp. I struggle to play a game through twice unless it's the type of where the story has alternate ending or you can play through with different characters to give you enough of a change.

I enjoy my gaming because of the new environments you discover, new challenges etc which is why I find the replay sometimes boring.

What about you? What level do you start a game off and what are your feeling on replays?

It depends on a whole host of variables. In days gone by, I tended to play more on normal first, then I would move up the skill settings. If I find that the game becomes unbalanced or imo 'silly', such as respawn after respawn, then I tend to tone it down a bit. Been there, got the tee-shirt etc etc. Sometimes it's nice just to make it more balanced and enjoy other aspects of the design.

This is pretty much my opinion as well.

L4D2 = expert whilst for the large number of games in my backlog I'll want to get through the story quickly and stick normal or easy on. I'll still enjoy the game but I don't have to repeat scenes over and over again due to deaths.

i play call of duty games on veteran because i like the challenge but generally it always depends the way i feel.

I just stick with Normal so I get the experience the developer intended unless I'm achievement hunting

Medium, i only tend to play games to the end once, if a game deserves a second playthrough (extremely rare ala HL2) then ill play it on hard.

Normal first to enjoy the story (if applicable) without frustration, I'll increase difficulty if I find that too easy.

If I enjoy the game, I'll whack it onto the hardest game for a challenge next time round.

First game if it's something i've never played before, always easy, 2nd playthrough depending on the trouble in the first play is either medium or hard.

Play on normal, if the game is that good you will always play it again on harder setting.

Always medium, unless i know i can do better. Like with Fifa i start on Professional/World Class as i know i can do it and like a challenge.

Hard for FPS and usually medium for other games.

If I really liked the game then yeah I'll probably replay with the difficulty up to expert or something similar.

I always start on medium/normal. If I get bored and just want to finish a game or it get frustratingly hard on a certain section I'll crank it down to easy. If it's awesome (Fallout 3, HL2, Skyrim, COD2) I'll up the difficulty on the 2nd, 3rd etc playthrough
