Do you have a domain name?

I've got my firstnamelastname.com. Both my full name and with the shortened first name I normally use.

When I first bought them it was the norm to use email addresses provided by your ISP. Which was less then ideal since it tied you in to an ISP.

From a work perspective the only email addresses that stand out tend to be @AOL.com. I work for a venue, I liaise with hirers over the technical aspects of bookings, and I know anyone with an @AOL email address is going to be a stubborn luddite of below average intelligence.

We did hypnobirthing, but it all went to pot on the day, the baby just didn't want to come and my wife had to have a csection. Our daughter is chilled as #### though, which we at least partially attribute to the hypnobirthing relaxation exercises throughout pregnancy.

Now that's an idea right there, I have a VPS that is currently sat doing nothing so that would solve that... hmmm.

Anyway, I have a domain name that I use soley for email powered through Googles servers (Google Apps before they closed it all for new users grrr!!!).

Bought a domain name back in 2001, currently pointed at a hosted exchange server.

Gives me the side benefit of not having to worry too much about contact/mail information on my mobile phone (should I lose it)

I generally shop around ISP's too much to be tied to an ISP specific mail provider
 
Have around 20 or so... many of them are cyber squatting though. Best I ever sold was for was £3000 to a well know (at the time) online site.

I purchased missus one for marriage gift, firstnamelastname.com...
 
Have a short domain in both .org.uk and .me.uk. Had the .org.uk since 2001, when I sold my previous domain for £2000 :D

How did all of you go about purchasing yours? places like godaddy?

I do now! Got my name as a .com and .co.uk from names.co.uk. They have this offer code running to get any .com address for £1.99 - DEGHPQTV

Now, how would I go about getting some email address on there :confused::p
