Do you have a password on your PC ?

Nah. It'd be a hell of a job if someone wanted to steal my desktop. I should put one on my laptop really, but I CBA with it.

Besides, if someone's gonna break into my house to steal the data off my computer, they're probably computer literate enough to be able to just remove my storage HDD and put it in another computer.

Which is what encryption is for.

I have an external drive I keep all my sensitive stuff on which is encrypted using TrueCrypt. My desktop PC has a strong password on it to logon but that's it really. My family also have passwords set on their PC's but they certainly aren't strong. The "family laptop" has no password as it's for general use between everyone.

passworded with auto login

media centre logs in with read-only access to it's media, I add things to it over gigabit using the admin account

i don't bother hiding porn, have a shortcut to it on desktop

Strong passwords on all my machines (although I am naughty and run with administrator level accounts on all but my fileserver - I'll probably change that when I rebuild my machines with W7, but I CBA with the hassle before then). UAC is on at default levels. No harddrive encryption, but I have put an encrypted container on my work USB stick for code and databases that I wouldn't want lost.

Like others have said, nothing. I will be putting a fair bit on next year though as I will be in shared accommodation. Plus if I had a laptop that would be encrypted and passworded.

I password all my PC's with a strong encryption passphrase (actually have a domain controller set up with roaming profiles so I can log into any PC in my house with the same details). At least 13 characters letters numbers upper and lower case. Something like 0v3rCl0ck3r5rul35 (not that obviously). Passphrases make it easy to remember but quite hard to break. I have the server set to change it once a month for me and all my family, my family have very limited accounts, they cannot install anything and can only save to their own home area. I also have an encrypted drive on my main PC where all my important personal data is stored. I encrypt my pendrives also.

Once word for that.....F8 :D

So many people do these things but forget to put a password on the original Administrator account.
