Do you have dual-boot and why?

On my file server I dualboot Windows 7 and OSX, it's not a mac either. :P

On my main PC it's just Windows 8 Developer Preview.

No need on my desktop for anything other than W7. I have VMware workstation installed though if I do.

On my mbp I use VMware for W7 aswell.

Just Win7 and Win8 Dev Preview. I also have a handful of VM's available (various flavours of Linux and Windows Server).

Using VMWare workstation at the moment as Virtualbox doesn't support 64bit yet.

Couldn't agree more. I had a tinker with Ubuntu, openSUSE and Linux Mint for a while, but I missed Adobe, couldn't get used to GIMP and the horrificly undeveloped replacements for other Adobe suite applications. Don't get me wrong, Linux has massive potential; but simply isn't mature enough, and doesn't have enough support from leading developers (e.g Adobe) for it to be viable for my needs.

It's a shame because its a really nice OS. So customizable. but the problems are too much. Unoptimized Flash integration, Causes slow loading pages and Fullpage flash is just horrendous. HD GPU acceleration appears to be none existent. I cant run any 1080p stuff in Linux mint, Yet a quick shift to Windows XP. And it runs flawless.

Just too many small flaws, added upto me using XP.

I don't dual boot and run Win 7 with VMware Workstation. Use it for Linux, 32-bit windows and Windows 8.

I triple boot between OS X Snow Leopard, Windows 7 and Ubuntu on my MacBook.

I also have Windows 7 and OS X Lion on my Mac Pro (as well as VMware Fusion so I can run my BootCamp partition from within OS X).

But I also have VMware workstation on all my PCs (at work and home), as I've always got a few VMs (of varying OS) for testing and development purposes.

I used to dual-boot Windows 95 and 98 when I was uncertain which was the best. Boot manager was Quarterdeck "Select It". In these days of more solid OSes, I use XP on my laptop and 7 on my desktop.

Have used a couple of boot managers at work too. My technician PC ran XOSL that took you to two versions of XP or alternatively DOS for Ghost, gdisk etc. Another technician PC ran HyperOS, where instead of having "My Computer" in XP, it had "My Computers". You could double click a drive letter in My Computers and it would take you to the OS on that drive letter, and HyperOS did the same trick on each OS. I think we had Win 98 as 1st OS then a dozen XP partitions, which meant that we needed logical partition too. The purpose of 10 XP's was to test out different combinations of software to see if there were any conflicts.

For virtualisation on Win 7, WMWare makes sense because it lets you use USB devices. I've not yet found a virtualisation program that you use even a small amount of your GPU for basic oldskool 3D games yet i.e. Final Fantasy 7.

I have Windows 7 and XP on separate HDD's and just change boot order when I want to change.

My Win 7 shortcomings
* Cyborg Evo Force joystick won't install properly (crashes on button press) I've spent hours on this.
* Audigy 2 ZS official W7 audio driver is crippled, stripped back and flat sounding - until I found modified drivers online, it was a stupid attempt at getting me to upgrade.
* Old games don't work :(

XP Win :D
* Old games work
* All drivers work!
* If there are bugs, there is usually a quick solution!

Shortcoming
* x64 drivers aren't great, so forced to 32 bit.

My old laptop is duel booting Ubuntu and XBMC, its used purely in the room for streaming or browsing.

PC is running W7 64 bit. Any other OS needs ill use a virtual machine but so far have not found the need.

I have windows 7 set up under boot camp on my MBA. I use win 7 to work from home as lion is not compatible with the nx client. Couldn't log in to my linux machine.

I used to dual boot windows 95 and NT 4 years ago on my pentium 166mhz with 64mb of ram.

Nowadays I have my main rig running Windows 7 Pro x64, my media PC connected to my TV running Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and an older computer running windows XP just in case I feel the need to retro game.

My most recent revelation has been getting PS3 pads working via Bluetooth on my main rig and living room PC. Fifa 12 is awesome on the big screen.

Not quite...

I have two HDD's with different installs of windows on them, both with the relevant drivers set up for my PC. When I want to boot off of 8 Dev Preview I just unplug one Sata cable and plug in the other. This way I feel there is absolutely no interaction between the two!

OSX and XP...I need xp for citrix as the plug in works so much better for internet explorer so I can do a little bit of weekend working

and world of tanks!
