Do you feel the need to have meat with every meal?

There are loads of fantastic vegetarian and satisfying dishes out there. It's a shame how nearly everyone I see going for an Indian opts for a meat dish. Ditto Thai or any other cuisine.

I tend to have 3 full meat free days in the week to keep me open to new things.

More or less, but I totally agree with you. There are plenty of fantastic dishes that just don't have meat. I don't like saying vegetarian dishes, as it sounds like you've taken a meat dish and replaced the meat.

Pretty much have meat or fish with every dinner. However, when I go out for a curry I always get a vegetarian starter. My friends often question this, as they know how much of a meat lover I am but they have some fantastic vegetable dishes.

I dont feel the need to have meat with every meal, but it usually ends up that way

This pretty much sums it up.

I don't necessarily feel the need to have meat with every meal but I like meat - a lot - and tend to favour meat dishes.

Most of the non meat dishes I prepare myself tend to be omelettes or soups or stir fries.

I do occasionally have non meat dishes when eating out but they need to appear very appealing on the menu before I'll choose them over meat dishes.

Breakfast is normally meat free in the week. Since its normally a piece of pastry or muffin.

Lunch and dinner normally I have meat and veg.

Yeah meat or fish or eggs at every meal, mostly because of habit. It's possible to have a balanced meal without but you must know a little but on the right combinations of veg for proteins

I can go without meat for a little while but then I come over all caveman & have to have some, Same with chocolate as well but not very caveman. :p

I would like to, but I know that ain't good for you in the long run, so I tend to have the non-meat every now and then and make sure I alternate between red and white meats :)

My mrs being a veggie, i have around 2 meals a week with meat. And im a big meat fan. Ive just become used too not eating that much meat though. Roasted vegestable lasagne is so much nicer too..

as for quorn, erg no.

Breakfast - If I do then it would be something like a bacon sandwich, but that doesn't happen that often.

Lunch - During the week probably not. I get sandwiches from the canteen but they are usually cheese or egg sandwiches.

Dinner - I would say 6 out of 7 dinners are meat dishes. We change it between pork, chicken and beef. Have started eating a few veggie bits now like bean burgers (which are awesome) but not often!

Meat, fish, eggs or cheese with every meal or a combination of. I can't think of anything more boring/unhealthy than sitting down to a plateful of plants.

I asked this before in GD and got massacred!

I used to be a massive meat eater but cut down to maybe 1 meat meal, 1 fish meal a week. Saved me loads of money (in the UK) and felt much healthier for it. It also improved my cooking and made me far more inventive and experimental because I had to think further than a "chicken/pork/beef" base and something else to go with it.

Since moving to Japan I do eat meat a little more, especially fish, maybe 2 or 3 times a week, partly because vegetables and fruit are so much more expensive here and partly because we like to cook local food, which generally requires meat .

My new favourite thing since coming here is Tofu. It's amazing stuff! Plus here it's super cheap, like 50p for a tub that'll last 4 meals. Our current favourite is...Scrambled tofu with a bit of curry powder/chopped tomatoes/paprika/black pepper mixed into it for breakfast. I'm not going to say it's better than eggs, but it is delicious!

I really can't imagine eating meat for even half my meals now. There's so much you can do without it, whether you're subbing in a veggie alternative to a normally meaty meal, or making something truly veggie from scratch.

Lack of imagination and knowledge seem to be your problems here!

for example a good vegtable curry is every bit as nice as a meat one, in certain parts of India they pretty much only eat veggie curries as meat was traditionally unavailable.

It is also not exactly challenging to incorperate a couple of vegetarian meals a week into a healthy diet.
