Was wondering as I'm really enjoying mutant year zero(when it plays) but my god it has some dumb issues on PC.

First issue I had which a patch resolved was stuttering, I alao ran into the bug where the game refused to launch from xbox pc app and Windows store, did usual fixes and ones dev said no cure, a reinstall of Windows fixed it.

They patched it not last night but night before since then the same bug is back it won't launch, did usual but I refuse to windows reinstall windows again as I now know it wasn't the issue to begin with.

Lonh story short, if a game is bugged and you enjoy it will you carry on or just sack it off?

All I can say to this is KCD and Steam early access. Lots of people are prepared to play broken unfinished games.

I can remember playing a game on the spectrum 48k that wasn't finished and I had to send a letter with a SAE to receive the latest game update on floppy disk to carry on playing.

KCD?

I understand early access games but there is no excuse for final releases imo.

I haven't stopped playing s bugged game myself if I enjoy it, the only time I generally don't go back is if I lose a save that's 10 plus hours in

Sorry KCD is Kingdom Come Deliverance probably one of the more famous but very popular games that had game breaking bugs at release.

I do generally wait to buy games at least until they've had initial bug fixes.

Primarily it's because they're cheaper then too. :)

Software will never be free from bugs though, even as a final release. Things are complex and get missed in testing all the time. And usually fixes for bugs result in other bugs :D.

I'm currently playing a game that I helped fund through kickstarter about 4-5 years ago that I noticed was now development complete - although typically the developers have abandoned it now it's at a final stage. The game runs well at the beginning, but as time goes on and there are more items in game it really starts to bug out.

Depends how bad the bugs are really, if they don't impact the mechanics too much and I can still enjoy the story then I'll usually ignore the bugs and continue playing.
If the bugs are pretty bad then I'll usually play the game for a few weeks, then if the bugs cause too many problems, will stop for about 6 months or until a major patch is released... most recent game I've done that with is Imperetor Rome.

Depends how game breaking it is and depends how much I like the rest of the game. I soldiered on for quite a while with Fallout 76 as there is a decent game buried under all the guff but eventually the crashes and lockups ruined it.

Depends how bugged we are talking, one which crash's every 5 mins not so much or ones with known quests that will likely break the game. If I enjoy a game loads and it has a known issue of crashing now and then and has a solid save function, then I will go ahead with it. Kingmaker Pathfinder was a recent example of this for me.

With that said, issues your having seem very specific to the MS store for Road To Eden. I played the version that you got free on Epic Game Store a while back and ran perfect on their. Is a great game!

i didnt know the speccy 48k had a floppy disk drive back then.
are you sure you dont mean the 123k +3?

(not that it matters for the point of the thread, just curious :)

as for bugged games. I dont play games in EA - well not unless it looks like they have been abandoned. I often buy them but wait for them to be finished.
IF the game is released, i will work around bugs that i can, unless they spoil the game, if so i will go to something else.

As an elite dangerous player, working around bugs is par for the course

I'll play Early Access games, but only if they are currently in a state that I would enjoy. I'm never going to buy an Early Access game on the promise it would get better.

Games like Squad and Rimworld are a perfect example of this. When I bought into the Early Access of these games, I was perfectly happy with how they were in that state.

Probably my memory and it was an Amiga!

I've also started playing a couple of games in early access, enjoyed them only for the projects to fizzle out and disappear.

Aye the dev has confirmed there latest patch they released on Friday broke it for game pass users and steam users mostly get crashes.

I just made me think that's all in general of people carry on or sack em off.

I actually can't remember ever encountering any game-breaking bugs, I must be incredibly lucky!

Anthem, it has a nasty habit of randomly closing and kicking you desktop with no warning or error message of any sort. EA acknowledge the problem but can't be arsed to fix it.
