My Grandad died a few months back and we were sat looking at old pictures of him when he had passed away and we were waiting for the funeral people to come and get him (he died at home)
I found a picture of my Grandad when he must have been a teenager, and he had written a note to my Gran on the back (they must have just been "courting back then")
I bawled my eyes out when I read it, but I have kept it, its a really old battered photo but the thought/words behind it means everything to me.
My Grandads the tallest one, he was born in 1925 so it must be about 70 years old now
The words say "To my darling future wifey wifey Emilie (I hope) Ha ha, with loving thoughts Cled xx
Ok im going to cry again now.
I miss them both.
I have a booklet "The Adventures of the West Somerset Yeomanry from "D Day" to "VE Day" which chronicles my late Grandfathers regiments wartime exploits.
