Is it weird that I've never used one? I've always used my desk surface (Grade A Ikea laminate) and have never encountered problems. Used to be pretty awesome at CS and UT too! Are they really necessary?
I've always used cloth mats. Currently using a SteelSeries QcK. It suits me fine. I tried a hard mat at my friend's house, and found the mouse was too loose on the surface for my tastes.
Depends how you hold your mouse. I prefer the "claw grip" as opposed to palming it. I have a red mark on the edge of my hand/wrist. That's with a soft mat as well hard would be no good for me!
Deathadder glides and tracks nicely with its teflon gliders on cloth anyway
tryed both, although i prefer the almost friction feel of a decent hardmat, a soft one such as the boogie but is just so much more comfortable to use, and the acre of movement space i now have is so much more convenient.
there is no flex to it at all, it feels solid and strong, I tried to make it flex and my knuckles went white and it still showed no sign of "warping or bowing"
