Do you like it hard or soft?

Hmmm interesting, I use soft but prefer hard. Current pad is one of those 99p soft thing's from the supermarket.
The reason i don't use hard is because of the mouse feet wearing out but when i did use one i did find it better for fps games.

Ultimately though i think i just need to shell out for a decent soft one.

i dont use a mouth mat, i got feed up with them moving around when gaming , so the mouse is directly on the wood on the desk...

i got some double sided sticky tape and stuck my boogie bug down on my desk, wont be moving anywhere anytime soon.:)

Either a luxury soft mat like the everglide titan, or a slippery smooth surface like a icemat.

Don't like textured hard pads, if you want slower mouse movement why not just use a cloth pad?

I use my desk. I just can't deal with mats any more, too restrictive.

The Boogie Bug xl pad that gets raved about on this forum from time to time is horrifically overrated. It gets covered in dust, curls at the edges, is stupidly oversized and the mouse won't even move freely on it.

After testing many, the Puretrak Talent cloth mousepad is objectively the best mousepad ever made. I play fps games at a high-ish level and I'm always looking to improve my aim. With an optical mouse like a Deathadder or MX518, cloth is vastly superior to anything else tracking/aim wise.

The Puretrak Talent is massive (I use 30cm for a 360 turn so it needs to be) and it doesn't move around on my desk at all. I can't actually slide it very well if I try, I have to pick to up to move it. It's also very comfortable - I found that hard mousepads were horrible for my low sensitivity since I need to swipe my whole arm a long way to rocket jump, for example.

edit: I used to use my desk before I got a good mousepad too. Never, ever, ever, ever again will I use my desk.

Soft mats are much better. The mouse glides across them without making horrible scraping sounds.

Only problem I have with them is they tend to curl up at the edges. Had 3 of them now and all have done this :(.

I guess it's hard for me since I always keep going back to the func1030 that I bought some 10 years or so ago now. I've tried softer options over time like the everglide titan and roccat sota but they always warp to the point where they become unusable so I guess i'll stick with this one until the surface texture wears away completely ^^.

I've had my Puretrak for about 8 months now, and it still looks almost exactly the same as when I bought it. I can't even see any fading in the pattern on the material. Also, it's only £15 on eBay.

Im currently using an ancient Razer exactmat which is aluminium, but I just ordered the XL boogie bug because I'm getting a huge desk :)

The desk wont arrive until towards the end of november though :(

It's big enough to fit your keyboard and mouse on it. The surface itself is pretty mediocre.

After trying it I wouldn't ever buy it. The surface isn't bad, but it's a bit rough similiar to the QcK Heavy. I don't know why you need a mousepad big enough to put your keyboard on it either.

Soft for me.

Started with a SS 4D which was a hard plastic pad and was horrible, moved to a Qpad CT which was soft but with a plasticised surface and am now using a SS QcK+.

Hard -> Half Way -> Soft

I've had my boogiebug for a while now and won't swap it for anything, I came from an icymat, It was great for the mouse precision but wasn't comfortable to use, the boogiebug feels great under the hands and after spending a decent amount on a desk I don't want it scratched when moving my keyboard around (I often slide it from "gaming position" to "typing position")
