whats a 'knockout' on this game?

In the battle mode when you get 2,3 or 4 lines (or combos) you send them to one of the other players, the lines appear as grey blocks at the bottom. You get a knock-out when you force an opponent to top out.

On the original Tetris on the gameboy I believe I got 210 lines which puts you on level 21 which is faster than the speed the pieces drop when you hold the down arrow

I used to be god at this game, can practically finish it on the Gameboy whenever i can be bothered...I was 12 and life was simpler then

there was an end? I thought it just kept going and going until your battery died.
