Do you like this watch?

Looks okay... very pretentious though - it looks a bit small for the case diameter and the fact that it's a quartz chrono makes it worse :p

Also as above said most people here wear those awful nixon watches or what ever they are.

Looks fantastic but I always prefer analogue watches over anything out of the norm. Still looks great.

isn't that just a 2.99 mechanism with a designer name attached? For 270 one could do better I think.

To be honest, these days i dont think there is a huge amount of difference between 'cheap' mechanism and an expensive one. Maybe in the past when building the delicate mechanisms was extremely difficult and therefore only well made ones would keep the time well. But these days everything is machined I cant see there being a huge differnce between any mechanism(within reason).

For example I have had my cheap sub twenty pounds watch for about 6 years and the only time i have to set it is for daylight saving; throughout the year it keeps the time fine. Who cares if it looses a second or 2.

People dont buy designer watches because of the accuracy of the mechanism, they buy them because they are designer watches.

So tell me why this watch costs 270 quid then! You've pretty much said it's essentially the same as a 'cheap sub twenty pounds' watch. This was my point - it's a 2.99 watch - with a brand name on it.

As someone said above, get a watch from a watchmaker. Or just get a cheap whatever, because hey they're all the same inside.

:)

Yeah most watches are machined. But the difference is that ones a quartz battery watch. Basically those black blocks you see on the back of every cheap battery clock, that you buy 99p then they stick it on a fancy clock face. The other one is actually mechanical clock work and should last a lifetime. Go through hell and they will still work. They aren't called seamaster and submariner for nothing.

Plus designer watches aren't that great. You want a watchmaker watch, or one that isn't a battery clock. I think the one i recommended isn't.

Omega Seamaster, Luminor Panerai.
A seamaster is what i want. But there probably not in his price range.
You could try second hand i suppose.
