Do you need a soundbar?

the thing with sound is you will never know what you are missing if you don't try it and your ears and brain adjust to what you listening to the most.

What I'm saying is you could be listening on the worst speakers man has ever invented but if it's the only speakers you've ever known your brain will think it's amazing even though in hindsight we know it's not.

And this applies to our other senses as well - like touch, you will think a 60hz monitor is good if you've never tried 120hz - so would you tell someone just try 60hz and if you like it don't upgrade. Same applies to vision, if I give you $200 TV and it's all you know you won't know that actually the picture is terrible next to a $2k TV

True, but OP is clearly not an audiophile, so unless, when watching TV, he thinks “I wish the voices were louder” or “I wish the explosions had a little more impact”, it doesn’t seem worth the spend.


It’s always my go to advice for whether someone wants something new, rather than upgrade it.
