I will try to man up a bit from now on

do you need coffee/caffeine to be more social?

I'll answer your question with a question......do you need to be repeatedly kicked in the nutsack by a large man wearing steel toe cap boots?

The answer to your question should match up with the answer to my question :p

Mate of mine stopped drinking coffee for a week to prove to himself he wasn't addicted (he was drinking around 10 mugs of coffee a day). During the week he was angry and bad tempered at work, had severe headaches and was arguing with the missus (more than usual as we all argue with the opposite sex). In the end his missus asked him to get back on coffee and he did but drank less and drank water during the afternoon.

No way am I coming off drugs if that's what you can be like just coming off coffee :-D

I've mentioned before on OCUK how there was a BBC documentary a few years back where it looked at the effect that Caffeine has on the body in terms of addiction.

It was defined that if you drink two cups of coffee a day, you are likely to have caffeine addiction. It was said that when you wake up in the morning, the withdrawal symptoms are at their strongest. Oddly enough, once you've had that first coffee to wake you up, it actually brings you to the same level of alertness as somebody who isn't a caffeine addict.

Obviously for somebody who isn't a regular caffeine drinker, the stimulant effect is going to be much greater, but that can also give somebody jitters and other ill effects when ingesting a large dose of caffeine.

I tried stopping drinking coffee for a few weeks last year and you certainly do get the symptoms of withdrawal. I would imagine it is also worse depending on the amount you consume a day.

I used to drink one a day at work, then I gave it up. Felt worse (relatively, it was only one cup) for about 10 days but now feel better for it.

Hot drinks now come in the form of green tea.

Green tea also contains a good amount of caffeine

I've just cut back on the amount I drink used to have quite a lot of tea during the day [4+ cups] but now I just have 1 cup of tea in the morning then water or high juice throughout the day.

I now have around 3 glasses of water or squash and I don't feel any different

I have about 14 cups of tea a day.

Making it and drinking it is habit, I don't feel "right" till I've had tea.
Although, I can go quite a while in the morning before I get any.
