Do you need Intel RST Application running to have Write Back Cache for RAID Enabled?

Hello!

I have not so long ago setup my two Crucial RealSSD C300 256GBs in RAID0 and installed the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Application.

I have enabled Write Back Cache in the Intel RST Application for my RAID but I was wondering if you have to have this Application windows
service always running at startup for Write Back Cache to remain enabled for RAID?

Thanks for responding.

I'm not entirely sure but is there a reason for stopping the RST service from automatically starting? If not, just leave it alone.

I was asking because If the RST service is not needed to run always at startup and for Write Back Cache to remain enabled for RAID then I was just going to disable the Application and run it manually when needed.

Actually there is 2 services running at startup for RST, "IAStorDataMgrSvc.exe" and "IAStorIcon.exe".

I am not 100% sure but I think "IAStorDataMgrSvc.exe" is needed for the settings within the RST Application
to stay enabled like Write Back Cache, is that correct? so this means I should be able to stop "IAStorIcon.exe"
from running at startup as i`m sure this just adds RST Application to the windows taskbar.
