Just started playing F.E.A.R again the other day and have this minute finished it (never finished it before because of WoW) and oh my god what a cool ending

But I was wondering, as near the end you lose all your weapons a couple of times and left with just a pistol do you save your mass destruction weapons for bosses you might meet later or use them when ever it seems fitting. There is nothing I hate more then saving WMD's and then lose all your weapons because you have been captured.

going to have to buy the expansion pack tomorrow.

yup, i've done it every other game i've played, probably comes from playing resident evil where ammo is scarce and i cant shoot very well

tbh i thought that the pistol was the best weapon in the game, some of the other weapons where just pants.

the shotgun was my fav and the machine gun for longer ranges, but nothing compares to the double barreled shotgun in doom 2

hmm, it was good.

But some of the weapons in soldier of fortune :D Nothing like taking a shotgun to someones knees and seperating their leg :D

Couldn't agree more - getting all your weapons stolen is one of my gaming pet hates, it's basically a cheap way of making things harder  I've made several posts on this subject over the years.

What I don't like is that it takes away all the reward from saving up ammo. There are a few games which ROCK, because you get to face really tough bosses and actually use up some of your arsenal. A good example would be the final boss in Quake2, or even Sin Episodes: Emergence (which isn't that great a game, but at least has some boss fights).

It wouldn't be so bad if you actually got the same amount of ammo back as when you lost your weapons, like the game actually saved your arsenal in an armoury or something which you broke into and restocked. But normally they either give ALL players loads of ammo and guns (i.e. not punishing those who have been wasting ammo earlier in the game) or you end up suffering, you've suddenly gone from 50 rockets to only 10.

About the only FPS I can think of where I didn't mind losing my weapons was Deus Ex. It has a strong enough storyline to make it acceptable.

Anyway, yeah, I'm the kind of player who plays through a game using mainly the basic assault rifles, shotguns etc (for which there are often plentiful ammo) and save up my sniper/rockets/grenades/superweapons for tough fights.

hehe I'd use the shotgun after I've killed them and turn them into human pulp

Expansion pack is good, same thing though different weapons.
Laser gun is kinda funky, burns through most things :D
