Pretty self-explanatory. It would be interesting to see who here still buys CDs regularly... this topic also covers vinyl.

Could a mod please make this thread into a poll with the following options:

- Yes, I never download music
- I buy CDs regularly as well as download
- Rarely. I only buy a CD if I really like the album
- I don't buy CDs, I prefer to get my music through other means

Thankee. I only ask because I normally buy several CDs a month.. but asking round it seems I'm in the slim minority.

To answer the thread title, yes I still buy CDs. And DVDs. And video games.

Although I download a hell of a lot of media, and buy what I like in the sales. I prefer it that way rather than buying something and having to sell it on to the bargin bins a few years later.

I've stopped buying post-90's media for the time being - I only buy "classic" albums/movies so I'm slowly building up my collection from the pre-90's, then I'll slowly start buying the "classics" up to now when they've had more time to be appreciated.

Works out better for me financially. ;) Although I'll drop the notes for Special Editions any day.

Also I hate leechers and people who download without paying or mass download without even buying a single legit CD/DVD, ever. Owning something physically, with the packaging is 10x better than a digital copy.

Yes, I still buy cds as much as I did before iTunes. I only ever download individual songs, if I want an album I get the cd. I listen to more music in the car than anywhere else, so it seems a little backwards for me to download an album if I have to burn it to listen to it anyway.

I buy tons of albums, but I'll only buy them if they're worth my money.

Naturally I download them, or preview them on Last.fm, before buying.

Addition: I don't buy on iTunes or whatever, I prefer physical copies.

I always buy CDs, there is only one album I have bought on iTunes because I couldn't find it anywhere :( I prefer having a physical copy that I can do what I want with :) Takes up space, but it's what I prefer. Also means if in 10 years time I decided that they're a load of rubbish I can flog them and get some of the cash back. Can't do that with downloads.

IFPI Statistics

In the last decade CD sales have remained relatively static, meanwhile vinyl is experience somewhat of a renaissance. Combined with an increase in digital sales, over the last ten years music sales within the US have increased by roughly 500 million sales a year. Drop in music sales is a myth.

Haha oh dear, I guess Flac or 320 MP3 isn't enough then? ;/

As for CDs, no not in years. I won't go into details.

Where can I legally purchase and download FLAC encoded songs? Until I can, I will continue to purchase CDs.
