Do you still buy DVDs?

I don't normally buy films unless they're good enough to be one of my favourites, or cheap enough to buy if i just liked the film.

I mostly buy TV series. The last one i got was Prison Break.

The last film i bought was Superman Returns on HD-DVD/DVD Combo (from the USA).

I have about 50-60 DVD's and have just realised in about 10years time they will be obsolete as a new type of player will have come in, will have to buy all new dvds :(

HD-DVD players will be backwards compatible so why would you have to buy all new versions?

Why would i ever buy films such as 'Clerks 2' or 'Goodbye Lenin!' on HD-DVD, so i can go, "oh wow, look at the detail on his beard, its the future!". :p

Until the industry open an online renting service offering HD video I'm going to continue using newsgroups.

Having said that I have bought a lot of DVDs lately, City Of God & Dead Man's Shoes this week :D

lovefilm rent HD DVD, and have done for some time.

I'm looking for an online service.

As If I'm going to waste £400 on an HD-DVD player when they'll be about £100 next Christmas.

My computer is completely adequate to play HD material and can be hooked up to my TV by DVI. I simply have no need or desire to buy an HD-DVD player.

I don't want to be a "criminal" but the industry give me no choice. Simple economics. Demand but no supply.

I still buy absolutely shedloads of DVDs. I went out and got two new ones this morning, in fact (Unforgiven and The Life of David Gale if you're interested) and I will continue to do so for some time. I'll probably switch to HD-DVD or whatever at some point, but any player I'll get will be backwards compatible so I don't see the point in holding off now with the idea of boying more later.

Actually they give you the choice not to watch films in HD if you're not willing to pay for it. Don't try and play down your criminal activities by saying that "you have no choice".

I mostly buy TV series with the odd DVD thrown in, recent months has seen me buying lost S1+2, The Shield S3+4, Prison Break Series 1 mainly because.

A: I dont and wont have sky
B: Me and the missus enjoy sitting down and watching a good series 3 - 4 episodes at a\ time not havig to wait a week for the next one.

On the horizon I've got Shield S5 and PB series 2 that Im wanting to buy and watch.
