do you think my pc will play bf3 at 1680x1050 med-high?

If one more person refers to a monitor resolution as 1080P I swear.....

WHY are you adding Progressive? Because your 720, 1050 or 1200 vertical resolution lines are NOT progressive?

Pretty much all modern LCD monitors are progressive scan?

EDIT: Oh I see what your saying.

Lol that's a properly geeky comment, I love it with all my heart <3

But I do concur, kinda reminds me of people who say "ATM Machine" ...so you're going to use the automated teller machine machine? (only example I could think of on the spot).

Geeky yes but the details matter

The term 1080p only assumes an aspect ratio and implies certain other technical aspects.

Go look at all the blurb about 1080P and you will find lots of words like - suggests, implies, assumes, typically.

The term has no place in relation to PC monitors other than the fact a PC monitor is capable of displaying '1080P' content as used in TV/Film.

I wouldn't say it has no place in relation to PC monitors - its just for the most part redundant.

A few decades ago people did not ask whether they would be able to play a game at 480P did they?

It's the huge marketing machine for 'HD' that has made the terms 720P and 1080P buzzwords people like to throw around. What people forget is I could quite happily push a stupid aspect ratio image with 1080 vertical lines to my monitor and it would look like ass.

Not really, it's just a saying, beats saying the full res each time, you and I both know if someone said "will my machine play it in 1080?" they mean 1920x1080... So do they.

Only the muppets that get this confused with a whole different form of viewing, ie average joe.

But on here, we all (well, I would have thought) know what they mean.

I was just making a point easier to type 1080p rather than 1900x1080 all the time, people know 1080p=1900x1080

BUT if I get a pc monitor will I be getting or better getting 1900x1200?

16:9 vs 16:10?

As for PC I have loadsa cash so I may as well upgrade CPU and RAM

I can keep same mobo, and GPU and 520w antec PSU?

Not sure why but it bugs me when people say 1080p on this forum.

If you want a decent look at how BF3 will run for you then try BC2 and imagine it as a little more of a strain on your PC. Quad is a must!

i was playing bc2 @ 1920x1080 with 8xaa all settings maxed on a gtx 460 and pulling in 60fps with vsync...

doubt bf3 wil be as demanding as everyone expects
