And there was me thinking this was going to be one of those hard to track down issues, a few minutes later in memtest... lol.

Well that will teach me for being flippant and attempting sarcasm...

<humblepie>

Anyway here's the current situation, the memory as it turns out is fine, I've been running it in my system for two days perfectly and it passes memtest happily.

The XPS will it turns out boot sometimes (usually BSOD's) so long as the memory is in slots 3 & 4, if two sticks are used in any other configuration it will not POST. A single stick in slot 1 will occasionally POST.

PSU output appears fine as far as my testing shows, I broke out the multimeter as the BIOS shows no information whatsoever and any windows based application show any voltages either.

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that the motherboard is at fault.

Opinions please :)

Thanks :)

Ballistix?

No, Hynix.

what problems were you having?

Lockups in BIOS, BSOD's if it got past POST and started loading windows.

Id say thats a memory problem :rolleyes:

That's what I thought too :(

What voltage you running it at?

No idea, it's a Dell XPS system and the BIOS is very very limited.
