Do you thrash your car?

Don't tell me you are back on the 'Yes it IS sensible to put a Turbo engine into my £300 rover rather than just buy a nice Turbo already' thing again :p

I always cane the Chevette, it's how it likes to be driven;). That and the fact to get it to go anywhere with the 1256cc engine really takes some effort. That just makes it all the more rewarding to drive though.

LMAO

I didn't give up on the idea. You lot just thought I did because I stopped talking about it ;)

Anyway, buying Si's might be a more feasible option.

No definatly not, its the oil that needs to be warmed up properly.

I quite often drive my car hard, but I always make sure the oil is warmed up before driving it hard and its serviced every 4000/5000miles or so.

Not *strictly* true. On a warm day the oils starting temperature it higher than say on a sub zero day so it shouldn't take as long to get up to temperature. ;)

Although the colour of car has nothing to do with it :o

He sounds like he drives like one of those annoying people you get stuck behind on A roads.

Slows RIGHT down for corners, so you get stuck behind im in the twisties, then as soon as the road becomes straight enough for an overtake he's off like a rocket.

Not at all mate.

I do go down one road all the time just for fun, I don't thrash it round the bends but I use it practise overtaking which is quite satisfying.

And yes I drive a Ford. :p

And no I don't like it at all!

No one will be buying mine. I'd rather take it apart and sell it bits. It's still using loads of oil :(

Got life insurance?

Lol - It aint that dangerous :p Mind you agw is only a small lad, it might break his wrists when it comes on boost ;)

My car just gets thrashed all the time now, don't give a damn about it as I'm getting rid of it soon, although I don't thrash it in the wet because I don't have much grip left on my tyres or when the engine is cold. On other occasions though I just take up to the red line for every gear, throw it around corners, don't slow down for speed bumps, do wheel spins and hand brake turns whenever I can as well, this expalins why my tyres are nearly finished lol, think the tyres have only done about 5,000 miles :p

Just to clear things up.

My definition of thrasing is going as fast as possible, on the limit all the time.

I always drive at the speed limit or just above and overtake when it's safe to do so.

I often go out down this particular B road to practise road positioning and overtaking and general awareness. It's quite a nasty road in places, there is actually a sign saying this road has had such and such many deaths in the past year.

I see motorbikers on it all the time which is quite cool just watching them blitz down the road overtaking a whole queue of cars and hearing 10+krpm. :D

EDIT: The only cars I hold up are the motorbikes which I always give way to. I back off the throttle a little to create a larger gap between me and the car in front, move over to the side of the road and give a quick flash of the indicator.

Quite a good feeling when they go past, turn around and put their hand up to you. :D

With being a small lad, his biggest danger is it coming on boost, pushing him further into his seat, and removing all chance of him seeing over the dash ;)

I was simply looking for reasons why you claim to drive like a granny around corners, thats all.

I don't. I said I don't thrash my car around corners, that doesn't mean I drive like a granny!

I bet that Mk3 Fiesta 1.6 is a veritable trackday weapon.

I'm saving my self for track days, not the car!

It wouldnt be dangerous untill agw got behind the wheel, I'd give it a week before it was tree shaped.

Dont sell it to him - he'll kill himself in it.

Actually, there's a thought.....!

Olds doesn't get thrashed.....big lazy V8 torque and a quite ludicrous amount of weight aren't really meant for driving everywhere on 11/10ths :) The Fiat on the other hand.....she gets ragged senseless most of the time. 899cc and 39 horsies mean you have to if you want to get where you're going quickly.
