Do you turn off your PC or put it into a low power state when you aren't using it?

Yes, either off or sleep mode.

leave mine on 24/7

Off - if i'm not going back to it within an hour or so.

Sleep - if i'm going back to it within an hour or so.

I just leave it if i think i will end up going back on it. Otherwise i will turn it off it only takes seconds to turn on anyways with the SSD

If i wasnt using mines for Folding @ Home when not using it i would switch my systems off.
With all the protection now built into power supplies unless there is a masive power surge from the socket there should be no damage done to your system.

Auto-Hibernate if gone for more than an hour, then flick of a switch and it's back on before I blink again.
I switch it off only if going to bed or I know i'm not going to be on it all day (i.e going out or something) which is usually the case.

Leave it on 24/7 when at uni accommodation - don't pay for electricity. Also need it on to use teamviewer.

When i'm at home i generally leave it on all day and then hibernate before i go to sleep.

S3 during the day, off at night (although I usually use the sleep state even then).

i shut them down every night
