Do you use "text speak" ?

Never....but do use brb, lmao etc when gaming :)

edit: I used lol once in a text to an old mate, and he replied "what the **** are you on about?!?" very embarrassed..never again :(

I always write words in full when texting, but not completely correct punctuation.

It's usually the other way round when talking on MSN etc. I don't know why.. just gotten used to doing things like that.

Might use the odd "heh" or "lol" (although not that much anymore). Can't stand text speak. Especially when predictive texting makes it easier to write correctly.

No, because it's retarded! I use correct English grammar and punctuation, well correct to my knowledge anyway, in all my electronic correspondence, be that email, internet fora or text messages.

I use to type words incorrectly just because it saved time, but after a while I realised that it was just crap and was doing me and my spelling no good. I've started typing correctly everywhere and even use punctuation where needed. :)

I use it, makes sense when you have a limited number of characters to use. Sometimes use it on MSN also, but that's just through pure laziness.

Emails, messengers and forums I always type in full. Texts I normally only type "u" or "**" when I'm running out of room and don't want a text to turn into 2 texts.

If I need to condense certain words down to save me 12p (or whatever a text is) for the sake of 1 letter, then so be it :p

No, never. Feels like it cheapens the language, and I feel illiterate if I have to resort to 'u' and '2' in texts. I just type normally, like it is an email or a letter.

Online, I use 'lol' and some other abbreviations, but apart from that, 100% standard English.

This, I also try to use proper punctuation as well. I don't care if it costs me more, it's far easier to read plus I hate "text speak". :)

I feel the same.

I too try and punctuate my text messages fully, though I do quite often have to spend a little time re-wording parts of the text to ensure that it fits into one rather than going into two messages.

Same here really, the last year or so I have been trying so hard to get my English a lot better than what it was. I was speaking to a old friend on facebook the other day, oh my days I could have died with the way he typed.

An example:

"dnt worry m8 i wanted to aswell but was gd tht i dint so tho solicitors sed, oh rite so u ada mad one thn lol"
