I usually wash and iron new clothes before wearing them just to loosen them up a bit. I'd never really thought about them being unclean.

if its from town then yes as people could have tried it on if its from the net were it comes all sealed then know.

Last t shirt i bought was an iron fist shirt which stank of fish because of all the ink used.

I wash pants before I use them and shirts, usually because they are creased up and starched when you get them, but most stuff, no. Unless they are a bit grubby or smelly.
