I am new to this series and i must say that i am finding this game stupid to the point of button bashing

I understand that because its a new game to me i will not be very good at it to start of with however how is anyone "new" to the series ever going to give it the time of day without some kind of learning curve?

At first i got fustrated with the game now i just laugh at it sometimes its like i am not even playing just watching a game

The fights seems staged and the end boss just seems a random affair anyone else have this view?

I think game makers like TECMO need to think about enviting new players to their games this type of gaming looks to be just for the "hardcore" and being a business man that to me doesnt make sense........ Shame

Only certain characters face Alpha 152 as a boss, as its Story mode

Christie for example has a show down with Helena as a finale.

It is very difficult though, i just managed to do story mode in 2mins27seconds with Jan Lee so im a happy chappy :D woulda done it 20 seconds quicker but i got a Double KO with the person before Alpha! was well wierd, draw round

Best thing to do is go into Sparr mode with one character (Christie, Jan Lee are good starters) and just follow the excerise and muck around

you COMPLETED the game in 2mins27seconds! What a truly crap and pointless game it must be. Ive always hated 3d fighting games starting with tekken, and not excluding the doa series. The whole idea of killing someone in a few seconds sounds like a waste of time to me. Give me street fighter or fatal fury any day, thoses games are more about skill and strategy than any 3d fighting game will ever be. Hammering the buttons to get random combos gets old very quickly, bring back 2d. All the technology in a game like DOA4 is a complete waste. Its the pure definition of style over substance.

it wasnt button bashing, it was mastering a set of powerful combo's and as the game persisted mastering a counter system.

i countered the last boss twice and due to the arena throwing her to the floor added more damage, if i hadnt of countered i would been screwed.

There is only 8 people to face with 1 round - and the story mode is a small percentage of the game

(it was actually the time trial mode, not story)

slightly off topic.

i am having a problem with the game not seeming to save. i have completed story mode with almost all *** characters only to reload to find that the one character i unlocked was no longer there.

has anyone else noticed this? is there a reason or some weird gamertag / user profile / controller issue i am missing?

You're using the import version I'm guessing? It's a known bug, you have to make sure your user profile loads up before the game does. The easiest way is probably to start the console by ejecting the CD, then putting the CD back in when your profile has completely loaded up.

Thats a pretty closed minded view. There is a lot if not more skill in a good 3d scrapper than in the 2D ones, i loved SF2 and MK etc as much as anyone but tekken was excellent in most incarnations, DOA was clever with its counter tactics, and games like VF required massive discipline to dominate. Most people who say what you have simply struggle to handle some of the added complexities of more modern fighters.

how do you know if it is the import version? it came as a bundle with my 360. i have to use pal-60 which may mean it is an american version.

Check the back of the box, there should be something there which says either PAL or NTSC.

All versions of DoA4 require PAL-60 btw

added complexities...what are they exactly, pressing A,A,A,B,down A to perform a super combo that kills your opponent in 5 seconds? Boring. The counter systems suck, the characters have non, the backgrounds are good but the 3d movement in them is cumbersome. 3d fighting games are for button bashers.

Button bashing will get you no where against someone who is very good at counters in DOA4 anyway.

And in SF2 you used to be able to win in a few seconds aswell
