My insurers have increased my premium this year by @£275 after I had a little claim. At the time of the claim they said that I'd only lose about 5% of my NCB (70% down to 65%) but this hike is in fact over 45% as they now reckon my risk has been reassessed or some other pap. Anyways, a mate has the same car as me & his premium is @£400 cheaper than mine and the only reason we can see for this is his location/postcode. What are the legal implications & snags if I were to register my car at his address?:)

Go for another insurer

My insurers increased my premium from £900/yr to £1500/yr when I had an accident (1.4 Astra)

Got a quote on a 1.6 Astra SXI (more powerful) for £900/yr with another insurer - with no no claims bonus (lost it in the accident) and with declaring the accident. They'll always hike it to a stupid amount after a claim

It's illegal* and if they found out, they might use it as a reason to not pay out in the event of a claim :\ Not the best of ideas.

*assuming the car isn't actually going to be kept there

If you are going to do that, you may aswell find the postcode of the nicest area in Britain and use that :p

The area makes a big difference - for my first car @ 19 I got a quote of £1200 at my parents house in Haslemere (small town in Surrey) and £1500 for Canterbury (Hales Place, large student estate)

I'd thought of that, but I'm gonna have to pick up the documents;)

Do you have a key to his house and sometimes sleep over? Would be ok then I guess.

Ive had the use of two addresses while insuring and just chose the cheapest one, then later I had an assessor round and he did mention it but seemed ok when he realised the above was true. Really you should put the address down that is where the car will be stored overnight for most of the year so :/
