Dodgy pay

Pooper scoop, antibacterial spray then kitchen towel is the best method (make sure you wash your hands afterwards or wear rubber gloves).

this is the problem with the general population, they feel certain things are beneath them so won't do it, but believe me when I say if you are out of work and have bills to pay you would quite happily clean **** off the floor with your own toothbrush for minimum wage

I wouldn't... I always said I would though... Then I found myself jobless and accepting a minimum wage job where I was treat like dirt 100% of the time. I stuck at it to pay the bills but it was hell .

I'd sooner chance a life of crime or prison next time.

I'm not saying there aren't some enjoyable minimum wage jobs mind . I for example washed dishes way back when I was at college and it was fine

Oh and that was at a company that makes billions every year . Its slavery in disguise

As for OP well speak to management or HR . Probably because of your shifts or a probation period

When we hire and advertise with a range for what that job would get paid we pretty much automatically pay the low end of it unless firstly the candidate has relevant previous experience, qualifications, etc. and secondarily they negotiate at the higher end of the range. Someone could come in with top notch qualifications but they'd only get paid at the basic rate if they didn't bring up pay before the contract is signed.

Only exception to that is if someone is extremely desirable for the post and looks like going elsewhere.

AFAIK this is pretty much how most companies work.

PS for those turning their nose up at £6.19/h - if you've got what it takes to be paid at a higher rate theres no good reason to be paid at that lower level... if you don't you can't really complain.

EDIT: On a related note with the current economy/job market you may not have even got the job depending on what it is and who else applied if you had negotiated a higher rate - we have so many people applying when we do have openings that we can almost always find someone who is good enough to do the job adequately and not looking for beyond the basic rate.
