Hi,

A stupid question I know, but I did a clean install of Vista HP 64 last night and I was wondering if my OC will still be active.

The things that leads me to wondering is;
OC.jpg

Surely it should state the OC speed?

Sam

If that is the windoze thing that says CPU speed ignore it, mine is at 3.6 but it still states 2.4 in the (cant remember the name) windows score thingy.

BIOS (100% accurate) or something like CPU-Z/everest will tell you what your CPU is really running at.

Can't see your pic either.

OK, I'm running Cinebench now to see what's happening.

Been the idiot that I am, how would I go about turning off speedstep?

Ummm, Speedstep isn't enabled there, look at his Bclk in CPU-Z...

Speedstep lowers the CPU multiplier, not the base clock (Bus Speed in CPU-Z)

Your O/C has more than likely failed, and your BIOS has went back to optimized defaults as a result...

Speedstep isn't a bad thing, it is actually best to leave it on when overclocking IMO, as it only lowers the multi (to 12x) when the system is idle, as soon as you put a load on it will go right back up to your overclocked frequency...

However if you want to turn it off you need to disable EIST and C1e in your BIOS, or at least this is how it is on my Gigabyte X58 UD5 mobos, on other X58 boards it maybe a different name in the BIOS...

Actually... If it voids my warrantly I better not, but when I bought it from OC it came pre-clocked so where do I stand?

The profile should be stored in a bios profile if overclockers did it. I cant remember how you get it set again though. You shouldn't have to overclock it yourself.

Thanks, but unfortunately they were all blank.

I decided to check what settings I had and it'd had saved the 3.4 OC but a little box popped up saying that this data may not be correct.

But when I check on the settings through windows it still says 2.6 :/

Windows vista 64bit says 2.66GHz on mine too, it's wrong. CPU-Z and any other tool I use to check says either 2.4GHz or 4GHz depending on whether it's idle or under load.
You CPU-Z is telling you the CPU is not overclocked.

When I load my BIOS profile on my Gigabyte EX58 UD5, if I go into the M.I.T section in the BIOS after loading the profile, a red window pops up with a warning, but I just press F10 and then save and exit, and my profile is loaded...

On the Windows Basic Information screen, it won't tell you your overclocked frequency, you need to use CPUZ to get the proper frequency, and you will also need to put a load onto the processor while CPUZ is open to see what the speed is (assuming speedstep is enabled of course)...

But from the screenie you posted above, your processor is running at stock frequency...

I don't suppose you have flashed your BIOS or anything since getting your mobo?
