Does anybody find browsers in general unstable?

One extension of mine has a memory leak. I have no idea which one, so occasionally have to close firefox. Mildly annoying but tolerable. One day I will bother to fix it :o

I currently have 1 tab open. All my common sites are bookmarked, and a quick google finds everything else. I rarely have more than 10 open at once. Simply put, browsers just aren't designed to deal with that amount of tabs open for that long

If you are averaging 45+ tabs and are expecting to run for 2 days, that basically means you are talking well over 2000 tabhours which is quite a lot.

Yes greater stability might be desirable but what you are looking to achieve isn't necessary or even of much interest to 99% of browser users.

Which is a pity really. Why not build something that is rock solid under pressure? Browsers are important, and Firefox, IE and Chrome are from companies which aren't small.

I get your point HT, but if I was stressing the browser out, say I had all tabs auto refreshing every 5 seconds then I'd completely understand having to reboot it every now and again.

But as I say I've only got the tabs open, yet that seemingly is enough to cause a memory leak.

Missed it the first time, I think the answer probably lies with KIS kicking in all the time - it's that which is working all round the clock considering how many banners are about.
