He's saying that profit margin doesn't just take into account bill of materials like that graph suggests. It couldn't even be gross margin because it doesn't include other directly attributable production costs (e.g. labour costs).

Why do people complain about contract prices?, If you cannot afford it or don`t want to pay that much, Then do not enter into the contract. As it has been said the price of the contract reflects the phones people buy on there contracts, if people want the latest and greatest phones, and want them at release or just after ofc contract prices are going to be higher than £50 a month. As your sim only deals prove its the phones you are buying. even you buy the phones separate it would still add up to around the same amount.(if you buy them new).
