Does anybody use a VPN service?

use torguard here. I found it better performing than PIA for me.

Same here, especially with 35-40% off promo every month! Great speeds too, just not full speeds :). Oh and this company is based in Panama

I use IPVanish. No problems in the last 12 months I've been with them.

Be careful of IPVanish, I was with them and read some disturbing reports about people getting DMCA letters n stuff. Plus they are based in the USA and under USA law

Which client are you using? The standard client or the viscosity tor guard one?

If not try the viscosity one and make sure the following is in the advanced bit. That helped speeds loads for me :)

Code:
sndbuf 393216
rcvbuf 393216
push "sndbuf 393216"
push "rcvbuf 393216"

PUREVPN here.

Its kinda necessary in Asia so I can enjoy Netflix and a lot of the other UK on demand stuff.

No issues so far (I even use a VPN profile on my phone when out and about to stream).

Not sure what's going on, but even with this in it, I'm only getting 1.2mb/s on torrents, instead of 6 - 8 :(

Weird, did you ask them to open a port for you to use? It maxes my connection out no problems downloading and uploading on torrents. Plusnet 80/20 synced at 80/20. If you want ill trust the IP of the server i am using and you can try connecting to that one too and see if its any better?

Is that what you did? If so how :)

Answer: Yes we do, simply go to My Services >> View Details (Next to your VPN Service) >> Management Actions >> Request Port Forward. That will then be processed within 1 hour, normally much quicker, then you will receive a config to use in your client.

Found it :D Thanks

Glad you found it. I am using a netherlands server btw if you want to ask for one of them forwarded :). Once they open 1 port for you you can open as many more as you like. Ive got 3 on the same server :)

Luxembourg seems to be fastest in testing, but yes NL is good too

Any one recommend a VPN service which gives you same static IP each time you connect to it? Experienced a few where your picking up different IP`s each time you connect. I need to use static IP as Identifier as well as usual username/passwords to servers I want to connect to.

In my config

my advanced looks like this:

Code:
resolv-retry infinite
remote-cert-tls server
tun-mtu-extra 32
mssfix 1450
fast-io
route-delay 2
route-method exe
script-security 3 system
mute-replay-warnings
verb 3
dev-node {lookslikeauniquieidentifyer?????}
sndbuf 393216
rcvbuf 393216
push "sndbuf 393216"
push "rcvbuf 393216"

my advanced looks like this:

Thanks man, I used your settings and it did this all the time

Code:
Nov 29 12:27:40: MANAGEMENT: CMD 'status'
Nov 29 12:27:41: MANAGEMENT: CMD 'status'
Nov 29 12:27:42: MANAGEMENT: CMD 'status'
Nov 29 12:27:43: MANAGEMENT: CMD 'status'
Nov 29 12:27:44: MANAGEMENT: CMD 'status'

Nov 29 12:27:49: MANAGEMENT: CMD 'status'
Nov 29 12:27:50: MANAGEMENT: CMD 'status'

So I used a bit of yours and a bit of mine :)

Code:
resolv-retry infinite
tun-mtu-extra 32
mssfix 1500
fast-io
route-delay 5 30
dev-node {""}
sndbuf 393216
rcvbuf 393216
push "sndbuf 393216"
push "rcvbuf 393216"
auth-nocache

No more errors or warnings :D Thanks buddy

Glad you got it working :)
mine says "MANAGEMENT: CMD 'status'" lots too. However i always thought it was just it polling the service for status for the graph and up / down data so never really took much notice of it. It works fine anyway :)

Is your speed better now?

Given that it circumvents many of the potential reasons to use a VPN, it seems unlikely....

PIA has a deal on at the moment for 2 years service for £41.13

Might be a cyber monday deal as quite a few VPN providers have higher than normal 'discounts' on today. I'm just renewing my PIA for 2 years :)
