Does anyone else prefer reading on a computer screen?

Prefer books though the Kindle is superb. The Kindle is more my convenience unit. Reading on a screen is awful - it's far to bright. Kindle is pefect to take to out with you and read in the sunshine something which anything with a shiny screen is awful at.

I will never, EVER switch from books to an ereader. There's nothing quite look sitting down and having a read through a good, real book - I just don't seem to get the same experience from a bit of plastic with a microchip in it :(

Out of preference I'd pick a real book every time, I understand that it's convenient to have an e-book reader but I'd feel there's something missing. Sure, you can have dozens, if not hundreds, of books on an e-book reader at any one time but I'm not normally reading more than one or two books at any one time. I've never found reading from a screen to be as comfortable as from a book, e-ink may be better but there's still a tactile element missing from my point of view. Then there's also the general inability to pass on a book once you're done with it with an e-book unit unless someone wants to correct me on that? One of the pleasures in reading is being able to let someone else also read it based on your recommendation and without necessarily having to get their own copy to do so.

God no!

Anything that requires serious reading needs to be printed on paper. Reading on a screen is painful after some time.

I've not tried these datapads which reflect natural light, but I like the way they are progressing.

I prefer my kindle over books, books are just too cumbersome, it's much easier to read in bed using a kindle, I never use the ipad though, the automatic brightness makes it a decent experience at night but the kindle wins every time

I prefer a book or reading on my kindle. I've read quite a lot of books in PDF format on a PC. Too hard to concentrate after a short while though.

At work I find if I really need to take something in, I print it out. I don't know why it's easier, maybe the fact you can scribble on it, highlight sections, just taking a break from the screen, etc. I also read that it's quicker to read from paper copy than from a screen?

With regards to reading books, I'd prefer to read from paper books, although I have never tried a kindle.

Hate to think what a kindle would be like if I used it. Always fall asleep reading my book, half way through the night the wife nudges me to turn the light out and my book is somewhere in the bed with the pages turned!!
