I really quite enjoyed it when it came out. The single player campaign was a series of staged set peice battles, many very memorable, and multiplayer was a blast as everyone here was playing and it offered something quite new to the console space.
I can understand people saying in hindsight it wasn't as good as people felt at the time but I've never understood the extreme polarity that the better something is received the stronger the hatred needs to be when it doesn't quite live up to your own personal standards. When a games average almost everyone can agree it's average but when a games 'great' it seems to have to be 'great' or 'awful; and what ever peoples problems with GoW are it's clearly not that bad.
