Does anyone have a hard time completing single player games?

Only recent games I completed are
HL2 & Episode 1
Quake 4
Tomb Raider Legend
COD 1 & 2

Games I never completed because they were 2 hard or I just got bored with
Far Cry (Got to last level but still havent finished)
Company of Heroes (About Level 13)
GTA San Andreas & Vice City
Prey (May be quite easy buts its boring)
Doom III
Psychonauts
FEAR (Will go back to this at some point though)

Trouble is as a previous poster said with so many other things in life its very hard to finish games these days (Unless you take time off work especially for gaming) and with some complex games like COH if you leave it for more than a few weeks its like starting all over again learning all the strategies and controls, I much prefer simple games these days like HL2 and Quake that you can easilly dip into for 30 minutes here and there.

The only reason I dont finish games is because a new one comes out and I get bored with the old ones. Like a previous poster said, when money was tight I`d play a game through from begining to end, now i have more money its not long till a new one comes out that tickles my fancy. Take Bioshock for instance, i`m almost at the end and its a good game, but i`m already looking forward to MOH:A and World in Conflict. Am I alone it loathing multiplayer games with a vengence? The amount of griefers, suicide bombers, team killers, spawn rapists, vulchers, bunny hoppers, dolphin divers and outright knobheads is mind boggling. I seem to spend most of my time getting killed by my own team, or blown up by some tool who`s loaded the spawn point with C4.
I suppose if you join a good clan and use teamspeak or something you might get something out of it, but the public servers are insane.

trick is to not play publics then, or join a little community. Or do what i did, stop playing said games entirely..
Im actually concidering getting one of the new MMORPGs thats more adventure based etc and less retarded PvP just to entertain me when im bored, hopefully they will have more mature audiences, and want to play the game to enjoy it, not to be better than other people/**** them off

As per thread title,

Pretty much every SP game I've bought they're unfinished. I'll most likely get half way through or more then somehow I just lose interest :\

Thats what im like, i get easily bored of single player, the only game that has held me is Half Life 2. Id rather be competing on line against real players that aren't predictable than playing an over hyped up single player game :)

single player games are so 80s ;)

Multiplayer games are so 90s ;)

One thing I think is worth looking at is how many single player games you 'half complete'. This means games which you have devoted several hours to; neither getting frustrated and giving up very soon after starting it, nor playing through to the end. So at one stage they must have gripped you enough to keep playing up to a point. Examples for me include:

Unreal 2: Got reasonably far I think, up to some weird base in the desert where you start with not enough ammo. Previous mission defending a crashed spaceship was quite good but I got so fed up at getting all my weapons/ammo stolen for no apparent reason between missions that I couldn't persevere.

Midnight Club 2: Had my completion percentage up to a round 70% and had won a few races in the third city. I had come to realise however that I was just going through the motions with this game and wasn't really enjoying it like I do NFS.

DoW Dark Crusade: Still got it installed and might go back to it one day, had conquered quite a few territories but got stuck on one fight vs Orks. Even with a maxed out squad/vehicle cap, 2 termy squads, grey knights, special chars, all units fully upgraded (wargear/weapons/men/powers etc) I get massacred when I launch my attack.

NOLF Contract JACK: Completed quite a few levels but got stuck on the spacestation. Seemed a bit of a stupid level to me and it really isn't anything special as far as shooters go.

GTA3: Got as far as the second island, but only had boring missions available. Also found navigating quite hard.

GTA San Andreas: Must be a fair way into the game (70? % complete), did quite a few missions in Las Venturas. Got a problem now whereby my saves (version 1.1) won't load in version 2.0 of the game

Pirates!: Got pretty repetitive and dull after the first couple of weeks, have killed all the pirates and collected all the items. The other stuff didn't really hold much interest.

Flatout: Think I got kinda stuck at one point and gave up due to uninteresting tracks, not too sure to be honest but I've still got the saves in my savegame folder.

finsihed

HL
avp2 ( all chars)
cod
MOH
moh sh
guildwars prophecies ( well main story anyway)

not finished too many get bored to quick ,

I've had HL2 from day of release & never finished it either.
Lately i've only completed:

Condemned
Bioshock (will complete)
Splinter Cell DA
CoD 1, UO & 2
Dark Messiah

I have countless non completed ones though like Doom & Quake etc, in fact... most game.
I prefer online!

Most of the games I have completed in the last 4 years are FPS or Driving (i.e. relatively pick-up-and-play).
The biggest difficulty I have now compared to 10 years ago is getting into 'deep' games

FPS games are incredibly easy and i always tend to run through the SP within days if not hours (EG COD and COD2 both finished REALLY quickly)

i dont really play many single player games anymore being css and warsow mad but the games i do buy i either dont buy for the single player or complete the single player in a very short period of time
