Does anyone have a rabbit|?

i think knip says she's trained hers to crap in a cage.

Yup I have, ok so they live in the house but it doesnt make any difference, they used to be outside when I didnt live in this flat, and they were litter trained then.

Firstly the best piece of advice I can give you is to get him neutered as soon as possible, it will help his grumpiness more than I can say. All rabbits have in their brains is the need to mate, and so get very frustrated when they cant do that, and so take it out on the people around them. There is more than likely a lady rabbit somewhere in the area, and your rabbit can smell her, and is going mental trying to do what he is genetically programmed to do.

When you have got him neutered, then you can work on the toilet training, because he isnt necessarily urinated because he needs to go, hes urinating again because of part of his male tendancies to breed and in this case mark his territory.

You need to pick up his poo, and pop it in a litter tray, also try and spot when hes had a wee and get a bit of tissue and mop it up, and put that in the litter tray too. Line the tray with newspaper to help absorb the smell, and you can also get something called carefresh which is great for absorbing stuff too.

You will need to be persistent with this for a couple of weeks but then he will be fine. Seriously though, go and get him neutered because that will sort out most of the problems. I'd put money on there being another bunny in the area which is driving him crazy as he lives outside.

Shout if you need anymore help, have kept bunnies for years, and always happy to help others.
:)

Edit
My mum says we wont have the rabbit neutered as its too old and would be too stresfull.
How old is he? Rabbits can live for ten years, and theres no point in me giving you any advice if your not going to get him neutered because thats why he is like he is. Trust me.

Is he not too old though? We've has him about 3+ years and after that he was with an owner for about a year and after that he was, possibly he's up to 6+ years old. He was ignored at his first home though the kids got bored of him I heard.

I told my mum when they take him to the vet, ask the vet whats the minimum age for them to be neutered but she wont she thinks she is a know it all because she's owned pets before

He's not australian from what I see lol  whats an Alpha rabbit?

7 thousand posts and you've yet to encounter alpha? :p

and i guess you haven't seen black sheep where the genetically engineered ones infect the other s and its like a zombie film with sheep :p

From the look on the owners face i think he's been far to "friendly" with that rabbit :(

The rabbit proberbly has a ring on his other hand :p, Oh I mean leg...

You can then make a very tasty rabbit stew, hmmm
WIn-win situation

When my rabbit dies, we'll dig a big hole in the ground and pop him in it and I'll put his name on some stone, his name is bugs BTW.

No hes not too old, the vet can advise you but if your asking how to stop him acting like he is, then thats how to do it.

Plus hes a pretty big rabbit to be in a cage that small, how long is he in there for during the day? Is he able to get out and run about safely at all. Hes probably got a lot of pent up energy from being a cage that size for long periods.

Please dont think im having a pop at you by the way, I am just trying to offer you advice.

The garden is fully fenced off so he has the whole garden to rome around, its a good sized garden, about 20 meteres by 5-6 meters. I'll go take a pic of the cage and post it.

So he runs loose during the day most days?
Again im not trying to have a pop, just checking hes getting enough exercise and stimulation to help his mood.

6 is quite old but it's down to the vet at the end of the day. But in general, when a rabbit is over 6 years old, anesthetics and surgery become more risky.

I know you are not having a go :). Most days he does but some days he does not go out now, in the summer he can be out from 8AM to about 9 at night, but its usually going to be about 12 noon to about 7PM now.

Ok so thats not an issue then, as thats fine.
I would ring your vet, and ask to speak to the vet that has the most experience of rabbits, and see what they think. If the rabbit is in good health I think they would consider it. You really will notice the difference.
At least speak to the vet.

we have rabbits
had them a couple of weeks now, and they are (so far) little angels
they only pee in the litter box in the cage, they still poop on the carpets occasionally - but it's no hassle to hoover it up

advice wise, i'm sorry i can't help - still a rabbit noob
but apparently its best to get the neutered, they'll have a better temperament and are less likely to suffer from testicular / ovarian cancer as they age

Put the poo in the litter box too instead of hoovering it up right away, and they will soon learn.

Is the guinea pig a boy or a girl, and do they get on ok?

The guinea pig is a boy and I dont think they do get on, he is seperated from the rabbit, when we first bought him about 1-2 years ago we tried them but they were going crazy just running about and we were scared for the guinea pig looked like the rabbit might of killed it in the end. First rabbit we had aaaaaggges ago must have been about 10 years took chunks out of the guinea pig we had, my dad let the guinea pig go in a field near by, poor thing :(.

How much does neutering cost? If my parents wont pay I think I might put my PC upgrades and bike upgrades on hold and pay for him to get it done.
